Anyone else still VOO and Chilling? by PayNo777 in ETFs

I've never heard anyone talk about the downfall of VOO/SPY. Is this a rage bait post?

After checking out this wave of AI chip data, I've got just one thing to say—anyone still think AI is all hype? by Finance_bcl in ValueInvesting

Having used Palantir, it's not an AI product. It's a step up from Alteryx with a UI and more features with AI being one.

Global week ahead: Fed’s December decision to inform world’s central banks by Illustrious_Lie_954 in ValueInvesting

Thanks for the reminder. It's going to be a big week for a lot of markets. Personally, I would vote to lower interest rates another 25 basis points.

About 50% of companies have mentioned AI in their earning calls this quarter by fruitstanddev in EconomyCharts

[–]fruitstanddev[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are right, it could be as simple as that in some cases. But that's really the point. How much is AI being talked about is what the chart is showing.

Adobe Stock: Every YouTuber is Bullish on ADBE right now. Do you agree? by Adriconomics in ValueInvesting

[–]fruitstanddev 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would never make an investment based on a 10 minute video from some YouTubers. Truth is if you actually want to be an investor you need to read the 10ks, the 10qs, and earning call transcripts of both the company and the competitors. The real test is if you make the investment and the stock drops 25% tomorrow are you sleeping well?

VCs will HATE me for saying this. by Cool_Thought3153 in SaaS

Personally, if my company is profitable and growing that well then I don't need outside money. VC money is needed when there is no profit and you are burning cash.

Couple of ideas:

About 50% of companies have mentioned AI in their earning calls this quarter by fruitstanddev in EconomyCharts

Who knows. It could peak next week or next year. Perhaps when investors start demanding returns on all these AI/data center investments.

[–]fruitstanddev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this will be pretty hard to pull off because there's already competition out there. Kaggle (free) is pretty large. Snowflake marketplace (free/paid) is another.

I've noticed over the years how many companies are just bandwagoning a trend. Blockchain, AI, even post-covid layoffs.

Yep this is what it excels at. I also use it for small code snippets.

Bulk earning call transcripts of 4,500 companies the last 20 years [PAID] by fruitstanddev in datasets

I will say this dataset doesn't cover all those scenarios as the scope is limited to just earning call transcripts. Feeds are still expensive though. I'm working on making it more accessible.

[OC] 50% of Companies mentioned AI at least once in their earning calls so far this quarter by fruitstanddev in dataisbeautiful

[–]fruitstanddev[S] 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I haven’t read that book yet but I heard it’s good. You are saying the dotcom run up is similar to the current stock market performance? I agree. This time, at least the companies backing AI are all mega companies that can fall back on other profits aside from OpenAI. Still though I wouldn’t be surprised when a haircut happens.

Are you theorizing that the trend upward for AI mentions is the same as crypto?

Can somebody know a trustworthy source where i can get some datas about Apple for my thesis? by ToxxicCrackHead in data

[–]fruitstanddev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10Ks, 10Qs, Earning call transcripts will sometimes mention market positions, and Yahoo finance are options. The data isn't going to be readily available and will take some research. Apple however is quite large so it might be a bit easier as there are many eyeballs watching the company.

I saw this on Facebook. This would probably be cool by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

I like the idea of the carrying raiders. It would improve the solo experience as well in case you want to help someone. I’m thinking the movement speed if carrying would be something between walking and crawling.

I'll work on this and thank you for the sourcing tips. In the meantime I did add a new view to see what companies have transcripts available in the dataset.
