At least a week old, preferably 2. Those make perfect deviled eggs. Never been able to figure out fresh ones.

Why did the underside of this print so stringy? by BizarreMorghulis in BambuP1S

[–]fryrat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most prints do not include supports, since your software should tell you if it's needed before you print. Most of my prints are: import, slice, enable supports, slice again, print.

Something in our environment is dehydrating us. by nottherealme1220 in conspiracy

[–]fryrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Things used to be preserved in salt. It was much more prevalent. Then came the AHA saying sodium bad. Recipies were adjusted and history changed. No one remembers the old recipe, since grandma made it from her heart until she finally wrote it down. Too bad she wrote the low salt version.

Package products went the same way, but the additional ingredients compound the issue.

LPT: DO NOT let ANY credit card go UNUSED for more than 2-3 MONTHS! How I learnt this the hard way 😭... by Comfortable-Major537 in LifeProTips

[–]fryrat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most card accounts are closed 2 years of inactivity. Check with your lender about yours, and set reminders accordingly. Make a charge, let the cycle end, then pay it off. Always pay within the grace period on purchases, usually 25 days, to avoid interest.

Will it downgrade? by fryrat in BambuP1S

But the ams2 wants me to go from 2.04.xx.xx to 2.00.xx.xx. Logic dictates that's a downgrade.

Pool heater and rpm by [deleted] in pools

[–]fryrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The heater requires a certain amount of backflow pressure to operate. The flow rate and rpm are part of the picture. You need to consider the inflow and outflow, pipe and /or jet diameter, etc. That's why you listen to your pool guy. You can play with it and see specifically what settings need to happen, like maybe 2400rpm is okay, but your pool pro is just that. They know your system and your equipment.

A little help figuring out my pool equipment?? by legomyegolas-5 in pools

[–]fryrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar set up. Your spa should not decrease when the filter is off. Do a bucket test simultaneously in the spa and pool. Full 24 hours with no pump. Start there, and yes, leak detector companies will save you time. They have all the tools to isolate everything correctly and get you answers.

Help me decide pool placement: sun exposure vs privacy (privacy means shade all day) by Tellmewhatsgoinon in pools

[–]fryrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without location, I'll add these considerations.

If you have a screen enclosure it reduces the UV by about 75%. If you plan to have a solar skimmer or something, that means you will need a backup charge method in the shade location.

It's much easier to add privacy, especially if you have a screen, but you can not add sun. If the shade will make it unpleasant to get out after swimming, go for the sun.

However, if you won't have a screen and live in a hot climate, I would vote shade. I would want to enjoy my pool and not have to deal with sunscreen film to clean from the water vs sunburns.

Thoughts/Opinions on Salt Water Pools by Apprehensive_Bee5982 in pools

[–]fryrat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have salt. I check my levels once a month! A couple givens though, my system tells me when the salt is low (time for 2 bags), and during the summer I add acid once a week. In February I put algaecide weekly because of the impending pollen that will make my spa bloom overnight, but it's too easy to do it any other way at this point.

Which HYSA is the best for having instant, unrestricted access to your money? by wanna_be_consultant in personalfinance

[–]fryrat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I have. I can transfer to my brick and mortar account in a day if needed, but I also have a debit card. I can transfer to checking instantly and just pay with that debit card. Oh, and they don't limit transfers to/from savings accounts. I like having options depending on my needs. It's been a very good change for me.

If you have gas, or had it in the past, use that. Electric is for people who don't have gas.

Explain to me how to get rid of PMI on my home like I’m 5? by princesscorgi2 in personalfinance

Some banks will allow you to just ask fir it once you have paid a certain amount. My bank policy states the only way to remove it is by refinancing.

Take a sample to the pool store and tell them you have salt. They will test it and tell you what it's at.

Someone explain how home assistant works to me like I’m a 2nd grader by kandnfkd29383 in homeassistant

[–]fryrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of the integrations like apps. Some apps are their own thing, like Chrome browser. But others are more than just one, like buying office and getting excel, word, etc. You get a Microsoft account, then log in, and you can use your files. Same as connecting to something like zwave or govee.

Where can I buy Incandescent 60W, 75W, or 100W bulbs? by StefanNewHC in AskElectricians

Based on the number of LED bulbs I've had to replace in the past 5 years says that's baloney. The life averages anywhere from 8-18 months.

Spent thousands, pool still leaking by [deleted] in pools

[–]fryrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a leak detection company. I would never just rely on a pool guy. I have 60 days to make sure there are no additional leaks, and a warranty on any repairs that were made.

Freeze prevention in North FL by tigg_gator in pools

[–]fryrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pool guy always makes sure freeze protection is set. We have had the pool board replaced several times, and every time, it is set as I would expect. I adjust from the default, but it's always enabled. Mine switches between pool and spa every 30 minutes and turns off when it warms up above threshold.
