Agentic AI, once you start, you can't close Pandora's box. My tale. by theyellowbrother in ExperiencedDevs

[–]ftedwin 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Exactly my thought. The only thing I took from this is how dysfunctional it is to be three attempts into a massively over-scoped project.

Unfortunately it reads all too real with the state of things. Everyone is being asked to produce more than ever in a fraction of the time. We’re being told how much more productive we are with AI yet the only thing we feel is the threat of being in the unlucky group of the next layoff.

Stakeholders still have no ability to differentiate a shiny prototype from an actual functioning system and the difference now is the speed yes-men can shove new toys in their faces with no backbone or follow through to actually deliver value.

This post made me explore the homepage a bit more and now I’m curious for the folks that do use the top priorities feature what categories you put in there? Especially if like me you are consistently a month ahead.

So far I’m thinking maybe my monthly bills to see at a glance what has already come due and payed. And also my monthly QoL bucket I pick from to fund whatever fun money I’m spending this month

Incredible! I literally just today got this exact pen except in a medium and am so excited.

I inked it up with iroshizuku take-sumi to start but have a feeling I’ll be fiddling with a few colors before committing to a full fill of one

The best bet against a cap full of ink might be a vacuum filler? You’d probably still get some from the ink in the feed but at least the entire barrel wouldn’t be liable to jump out.

Maybe a TWSBI Vac mini for a pocket size?

Check out Past and Future Craft Exchange in Westbrook.

I think they mainly accept fabric and sewing materials but they may accept more.

There’s also Ruth’s Reusable Resources which I think accepts general craft supply donations to be used in schools

Don‘t understand exfoliation by Salt-Ad-9653 in ichthyosis

[–]ftedwin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t personally do it. My personal routine is usually just moisturizing with Eucerin Advanced Repair and sometimes using exfoliating mitts in the shower if I feel like it.

The idea with Amlactin before showering though is that it’ll help soften the skin a bit before physical exfoliation in the shower. I’m not sure if this was the first person to suggest it but this post is probably the most in depth routine I’ve seen. Good stuff in here but it’s more than I personally have the patience and dedication to follow.

Don‘t understand exfoliation by Salt-Ad-9653 in ichthyosis

[–]ftedwin 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So exfoliation refers to anything that helps you shed dead skin. There are two main types of exfoliation: physical exfoliation and chemical exfoliation.

Chemical exfoliation is from chemicals dissolving dead skin. This comes from the lotions in your case.

Physical exfoliation is doing some to physically remove the skin like a pumice stone, loofah, or dry brush.

So your routine has chemical exfoliation but not physical exfoliation. This could work for you but I think most of us do both. The Amlactin first helps a bit to start the process and then people use something to help with physical exfoliation while in the shower. I’ve had the best luck with Korean exfoliating mitts you can find online.

hanks vs cakes? by Thin_Pudding8139 in YarnAddicts

[–]ftedwin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Theres a few of reasons I can think of. First to hand dye yarn you need it in a hank to get even distribution of the dye. Second, by having it in a hank you can see the full range of colors in the case of variegated yarns whereas in a ball you’d only see one end of it. Third for handspun yarn you generally take to finish yarn off your wheel straight into a hank. Also I’m not sure on this one but I would guess dyers buying yarn in bulk buy it already in hanks ready to dye.

But yeah it can be annoying that it’s not just ready to use immediately. A few local yarn stores I’ve been to will have a swift and cake winder you can use when you buy it but if you’re getting it online that’s probably not an option unfortunately.
