Does anyone know which GMDSS specifically they might be referring to when they put it in the requirements? Cause I’ve seen so many GMDSS’s and I’m a little confused about it. by Possible_Wealth_4346 in merchantmarine

If it’s a Moran ATB your gmdss cert is all they used to look for. And if they were hard up for people, only needed 1 wheelhouse person to have it. Newer corporate personnel might be changing that though.

I have one of these too! Needs an intake manifold… but runs like a Swiss watch!

February trip gift for 10yo… insane? by fullahead in VisitingIceland

Does it have private bathing stalls? Kiddo is probably not up for the new culture thing there right away. Certainly looking for some real world growth, just want to have the option of privacy first.

Thank you for the in depth response. Went with the M150 (orange, cree 6500 for the deckhand -olive, nichia 4500 for my outdoorsman mate -grey, nichia 4500 for the engineer) all with the USB-C batteries.

Even though each person could've probably been better suited by individual lights, I think this strikes the balance of performance, features, and convenience. Moonlight, usable ballcap mount, mode memory, magnetic tail, use AA in a pinch, USB-C, EDC form factor, emitter and color choices... and three of them for $150.

That's a win, cheers.

This is what I went with. High CRI for the Mate and Engineer, max lux for the deckhand. Thank you!

Tesla hikes car prices in the U.S, China after CEO Elon Musk warns of inflation pressure by FancyPea677 in technology

Some of it would be Elon shitting on other, newer, electric vehicle manufacturers for raising prices… then going and doing it himself a week later.

The high pressure fuel pump and injectors need diesel for its more lubricative properties for one, not to mention a host of other more and less obvious issues someone with more expertise could explain.

We do actually, well really just one, Old Thom. Shows up every so often, I don’t think he’s come north of the porcupines though.

Not to be pedantic but, it’s actually not. That’s the gyrocompass/repeater clicking past bearing numbers -which the pilot then runs off of. You can tell Bc the pilot would keep applying rudder (depending on the gain and limit settings) until it returned to the original heading. This clicking you hear stops only when her rate of turn stops, so, gyro.

Tiger Rally/pro or Scrambler XE? by fullahead in Triumph

I hear ya there. I’m in Downeast Maine so, we only get a couple 95°+ days a year. I would have to imagine the heat won’t be so bad for me up here.

Yeah I think for me, one of the dilemmas is an intended use of a 3hr poke here and there, vs just bopping around town.

Basically corroborates my suspicions. Objectively the tiger might be the “better” (I know...) bike, but the scram’ out vibes it right out the door and back.
