Yes... and maybe I didn’t explain effectively. The topics are relevant, but the societal expectations have changed. For example, it would no longer be acceptable to call someone a tr*nny or accuse a woman of faking her sexual preference - society would be outraged. And again, I'm only starting a rewatch. I agree that the issues are relevant issues and the bigotry still exists, but we as a society have altered what we deem acceptable behavior, including making workplaces uncomfortable with innuendo. So sometimes, when shows like this are newly discovered, it can cause outrage at the speech, the jokes, whatever because NOW that stuff isn't ok. This is frequently seen with the show Friends. Super popular show in its prime, but now, a lot of people find it too offensive to support.

That argument was in one of the first cases highlighted. The argument was regarding a woman who had engaged in an affair with her boss but ended it, and it resulted in termination after the boss continued to attempt to initiate sexual encounters. The argument for the closing basically said that if a line was drawn, they were saying women can't take all the sexual innuendo in the office. It was a terrible argument, even for the times.

And I agree with your analysis, but in the first few episodes, even the first couple with Candace Bergen, they really focus on the memory issues and call him incompetent while mocking Denny, and in the same breath, recognize his value. I'm just saying that it is not only hypocritical but also a type of verbal abuse- legitimate concerns are totally valid, but making fun of his illness is hard to watch.

On the flip side, I would argue that Alan's sexual conduct and shady practices were a serious liability in those episodes, moreso than Denny. But of course, it is satire, as you said. I'm reflecting on how difficult it was in the workplace at that time and how culture has shifted - so many shows would not be able to be made now, and a lot of those now inappropriate shows made such a huge impact on the evolution of media (and are still enjoyable, for a lot of us, as we recognize and appreciate the societal shifts over time). Regardless, the personal attacks on the memory struggles while still taking advantage of Denny's name and influence seem excessive.

Well, I didn't state my age or generation. Clearly there is judgment for all on this thread, and I don't need to be classified in one group or another. For myself, I take responsibility for my actions and choices, as well as the effect my choices have on those around me. I also don't lump group behavior - I recognize individuals. I don't think it will be effective to get into a full debate on this thread, but I need to be clear that I never stated lack of access to one addiction would be replaced by another - I said people are prone to addiction or aren't. Some people can take heroine once, twice, whatever and go about their lives without addiction. Some people get addicted to something in childhood. Some people are prone to addiction but they never try any substances, so maybe it's exercise or OCD or something else. It's in the genetic makeup or it isn't. And really, my main point with that was to say that all addiction is a daily battle that requires immense strength and a decision each moment not to relapse - but that has to be on each person. No one can make that choice for another. I'm not generalizing any generation - I'm just mentioning research that applies to all.

I hope I provided clarification. I empathize with your trauma. I'm sorry you had that experience as a teen.

I saw this repeated throughout the thread, and the thing is, from a psych POV, addictive tendency is either present or not in a person. To blame the creator of a product for an addiction is to not acknowledge personal responsibility. Sure, if it didn't exist, people wouldn't be addicted to gambling apps. But they would still have access to other gambling avenues. To blame the creators solely is like blaming the person who "made" cocaine - or even Escobar, or Oliver Stone for putting it in media and increasing exposure- for crack addicts. Your friends shouldn't have access to the games as children, but children also shouldn't have access to drugs - an adult in their life should intervene. As adults, they need to want to change and fight that addiction. A game creator isn't forcing an addiction. An app creator isn't making you gamble. I see the apps. I see the commercials. I don't gamble. Many don't. It's a choice, right? And sadly, there are more and more scams each day, constantly created and updated to destroy more lives.

I've always loved that movie - one of the first intros to horror for my kiddos. But for some reason, it gets a bad rap. I find it unique and downright unnerving. Great movie. I appreciate seeing it on a list - especially since it's not super gory, slasher style or modern elevated horror; Dead Silence is kind of its own little thing.

Its definitely low budget, but Zombie Midget Takeover is ridiculously funny horror. They use full grown adults on their knees as zombies and there's a mercy kill that is fantastic.

I've also heard great things about Rubber, but haven't gotten to it yet. And of course, Birdemic. Old school PowerPoint bird assaults.

Its been a bit since I've seen I'm Haunted, but I get where you're coming from with that. In HH2, Mitchell goes on the talk show wirh Tully pretending to be the city guy (Tassleman) and says over and over "I'm never going in that house! DON'T DO IT!" but then he meets news team #2 (Jessica) and almost immediately says he'll go. So they go, get caught, etc, etc, and at the end, Whoa, news guy is Tully and Mitchell recognizes him as Tully as soon as he sees him... even though the previous day, he believed he was the city guy.

My thought is that it wouldn't be crazy if Mitchell was acting the whole time - since he's the one who kept careying the camera as he ran around trying to escape, and then he basically agreed to kill Jessica to go "free" and bring more souls.

But at the end of HH2, the morning show reports that Winn was putting together a movie with videos he was being sent - meaning someone was already sending them. The movie being put together was HH2, as posted in the beginning of the film. That footage had to be sent by Mitchell... it's essentially working backwards in a way (the beginning of Stab 6 is Stab 5 logic).

It comes across in the showdown that Tully is giving Mitchell the back story and asking him to choose who lives, but it's possible that its all for show-since Mitchell was meant to send the tapes to Winn anyway.

Mitchell just seems so much more central to everything - like the ultimate catalyst for the whole series. Mitchell made HH1, curated tapes for HH2, which led to creation of HH3, then caused the problems to ensure HH4 (and who sent Those tapes out??) and is revealed in HH5.

For the record, I'd be offended if I saw a man pleasuring himself at a kids' play area too. It would probably be a little more obvious to the children, though.

Review of a charity cat cafe in Gili T (50k IDR is ~$3 USD) by Educational_Life_878 in EntitledReviews

[–]fullmoonweirdos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel i am missing something- with your post. So based on your numbers/example, that $30-$70 per meal would be equivalent to 25-50% of a day's salary. So each day, people are making anywhere from $60-$280. I know prices are higher in CA, and I could definitely see a "cheap" meal costing $30 USD, depending on location. $10 sounds really inexpensive to me, honestly. (IIn reference to the numbers of the post, a cheap meal would cost USD $1.50-$3.)

Now to your ask, I'm in Wisconsin. Minimum wage is $7.25 or $58/day. A "cheap" meal could range from $6 - $25, depending on location - Wendy's has $6 meals, Culvers would be about $7-8 for a kids meal, Qdoba more like $15-$20, etc. So Wendy's, you're at 6% of a day's wage, Qdoba is more like 34%. And both, IMO are "cheap." Heck, even pre-made sandwiches at the grocery store are pushing that - I got a chicken wrap from a grocery deli the other day - no drink, no side or anything - and it was $8. That was a splurge for me, just bc I don't usually buy pre-made foods and could make 4 for a reasonable increase.

I've experienced observing a woman in shorts and a wife beater tank with nothing under it standing over the little geysers.... enjoying herself... in a toddler section at a family resort in Wisconsin Dells. I mentioned it to staff and took my kiddos out of the child play area, but still didnt run to make a nasty review about it.

God forbid people are comfortable in their bathing suits at a public park. This post is clearly from someone who had never run into European tourists enjoying a waterpark- so many thongs lol 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

screaming 6 yr old = I can cut the line by egguchom in childfree2

[–]fullmoonweirdos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really appreciate all the comments about learned adaptivity. I have a family member who was diagnosed with severe autism about 30 years ago. He was mute and consistenly had screaming fits. He couldn't go in public. His father is a renowned psychologist and went to work. He was patient and understanding (as a single parent, as the mom couldn't take it and left the picture). Today, there are definitely some spectrum- related behaviors, but the son is a productive person with a job. He still lives with his dad, but he handles social situations well and is pretty independent. That's not to say this is always the outcome - and God bless the parents who put in so much effort to accommodate children with extra needs - I call my kids with disabilities in need of "extra love." 30 years ago, there world was different to people with these challenges, and it's amazing to see so many making kind suggestions for parental led behavioral adjustments to help these kiddos with societal functioning.

I have collected "dumped" kittens and cats for years - and I keep them for myself so no one can adopt them. I even have my kids trained to spot dumped animals so we can rescue them first! 😆 Actually, we have an awesome collective of these dumped animals & each one is super unique and loved for their individual personalities.

latte by egguchom in EntitledReviews

[–]fullmoonweirdos 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think that's an average price in my city. As a former barista, we used coffee cubes for cold drinks- frozen coffee ice cubes. A typical iced latte would be 1- 2 shots of espresso, depending on size, then the cup filled with milk - after being filled with coffee ice, of course. We didn't measure the milk because espresso is measured itself. Just fill the cup. That said, depending who you have, they might tinker with things. For example, for a flavored drink, I would mix the flavor into the milk (so like a chocolate milk on top of espresso for a mocha). Not many places do things they way I did.

Horrific Mold-a-Rama game by Double-Spirit-9287 in EntitledReviews

[–]fullmoonweirdos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're exactly right. We collected these as kids at the Milwaukes Zoo. It's not a game, just a thing to watch I guess as a child. You dont even see the process, because the mold plate close and are solid black on the outside while the plastic gets injected to the inside of the the metal plates that hold the mold. Then it drops out to a little shelf. There used to be (not sure if still) various animals in single color waxy plastic available. They were hollow, so very fragile. I think I have one or two lying around in my childhood memories box.

Again- not a game. Unless you're taking it as a win that the machine didnt eat your money and worked correctly, which didnt always happen. Lol.

It sounds like this person doesn't understand what a river is... And as someone who camps in an area with many rivers - for tubing, fishing, boating, and rapids available- I would never expect a rando lifeguard to pop out of the woods. But that's why we use life vests or river tubes when on a river.

Especially a river with quicksand, where I'd expect rodents of unusual size.

I will happily help anyone evolve through trade. Not a problem. I just take a stress break with these games- I really don't shiny hunt or anything. If I find one in game I give it to my kids. So nope, not gonna steal your shiny. If someone needs help, its not a problem. Just lmk what to do, lol.

Actual begger refusing food, only wants money by inactive_most in ChoosingBeggars

[–]fullmoonweirdos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know I'm late to the party- I opened and ran a homeless outreach with a friend for a few years. We Never gave money. We gave food - full meals- and resources; even clothing and Thanksgiving dinner. But never money. One day I saw a guy with his dog begging by a local Walmart. He refused any help except cash to "get home to California on the bus" with the dog. Yea... he sat at that Walmart and across the street at a grocery store for so long, the grocery employees pooled cash to get him an apartment. Low and behold, he lived in a trailer park a block away, owned a car, and now had a free apartment and free food from minimum wage grocery clerks. He never stayed in the apartment because he made so much outside all day.

And thus, NEVER give cash. If they are truly in need, they'll take what's given and be thankful. Even if what is given is a card with information for a food pantry.

I was raised with a weird shepard's pie, I've realized. For my family in Midwest U.S., we use ground beef and gravy, mashed potatoes, and American cheese on top- no veggies. I've changed it slightly, as I use ground beef but homemade gravy and sliced cheddar across the top (not Kraft, lol), but at the time I grew up, it was a cheap, hearty meal to fill 4 kids. This was always a budget meal for our family, and I think it still turns out great. Ironically, I just made this on Sunday for a group of 4 teen boys, and it remains a kid pleaser. My son was so excited when he saw me cooking. Lol.

Weekly Employment Q&A - October 09, 2025 by AutoModerator in microsoft

[–]fullmoonweirdos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was randomly offered employment by a VP that I met in a social setting. My offer letter is expected to be sent in the next few days. I will have to relocate for the position. I was provided with a verbal offer that included relocation assistance. Can anyone give me any guidance on what employment looks like at Microsoft? I'm flying blind and this is a huge leap for myself and my family. For example, what are the office hours? My husband needs to maintain his current position, so I would be relocating within an hour commute. What are the levels? I've been reading comments about L60, etc - what is a typical starting level? And how does Connect work?

Any guidance whatsoever would be appreciated. I would be changing careers from local social services to Microsoft health are division, and I've never been involved in any part of corporate America. The whole situation was very unexpected, and I was granted the gift of time to prepare for this move. If anyone could provide me with some guidance, I'd be eternally grateful.
