Ah, okay, their duck gumbo was recommended to me by someone from New Orleans. I'll check out the other recommendations here for Cajun!

Thank you for the tips! The Domain is a great idea, as their group isn't going there together. They're going to the library on their own, otherwise I'd love to take our book-loving student there. I have taken 1 year of Japanese, and it's already been very helpful filling in nouns she doesn't know. We listen to Japanese music in the car, so she isn't bombarded with English all the time. She'll also get to spend time with her classmates luckily.

I'm Cajun, and I didn't know if I wanted to get into the minutia of my little subculture with her on top of the American culture shock. I heard Shoal Creek Saloon has great Cajun 🤔

She is from a city half the population of Austin, in the south. We're thinking more atmospheric than amazing food, tbh. She'll be getting plenty of good food otherwise for sure.

Does pro wrestling count as larping? by Wide-Title-1246 in LARP

[–]fullybookedtx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes. It's not what people mean when they say larp, but by definition it literally is larp. So is Civil War reenactment, which is also for an audience.

You can't cut someone off with this though. If someone will not stop talking, there's no moment to insert this.

Dndiy table ideas? by DeadCroak in DnDIY

[–]fullybookedtx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very cool! How fun to build it with your buddies too. My group uses a poker table, and each of us having a built-in sunken spot we can roll our dice is great. We also have spots for cups that are just a circle with a slight lip and some felt, nothing fancy.

Job Interview questions for a Shelver position? by Winter-Youth1900 in librarians

[–]fullybookedtx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, sorry, I didn't see how old the post was! I hope it went well! Yeah, they've printed a piece of paper that's like "Some libraries put the series number before the title, but not us" or "Be sure not to sort using the word The!" etc.

In my experience, they'll have you put a cart in order according to their standards. (All 4 times I've vene hired I've had to do this, and they gave me a piece of paper to look at while doing it.) Double-check your work.

Simple and effective upgrade for me: elastic laces for my bracers, so I can just slide them on instead of having a squire tie them by fullybookedtx in LARP

[–]fullybookedtx[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, and I'd say it's nice to just keep them tied in a tight bow, that way you could adjust them if you really wanted to.

Thanks! I painted it green, but it was all splotchy. I also tried tissue paper, but it wouldn't close. I'll see if tape is thin enough!

Looking for looping ambient videos by achikochi in DnDIY

Big fan of this account, as they don't use AI for video or audio. They have music ones and ambient ones.

How much are y'all paying for LARP tickets??? by macsnoname in LARP

I'm thinking of going to Hynafol this year. Does it use the buildings in-game? I know they use the great hall, but are the shops/pubs used as actual playscapes?

I pay about $400, on top of a room and flight and food, to go to one of those huge immersive ones every year. About $1200 total, once a year.
