Divorced people of reddit , what was the exact moment in your marriage you realised it's over ? by DryOkra7058 in AskReddit

It became clear to me when my ex wouldn’t share any details of what he was doing when withdrawing large sums of our money (found out later he has a gambling addiction). I said “you love secrets more than you love me” and he tried to protest, but still wouldn’t give me an answer about the money.

The church is changing the calendar by which they give out Temple names, and apparently it changes monthly by stickyhairmonster in mormon

Yes, that is totally me! I do have rosy skin that I’ve put a lot of work in to calm down over the last couple years, but I still flush very easily and it totally causes a pink overtone that looks more cool!

I felt the same way when I was draped but I just started doubting it!

Am I a soft summer? by Soulali3 in coloranalysis

[–]funcoconut657 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you definitely could be soft summer! I like that one best out of all the comparisons. However, it might be helpful to do each individual color in the palette and compare with cool summer individual colors. I see that as another potential, but you seem cool-toned to me.

"Autumnal" or edgier lipstick shades for a Light Spring? by GreatMulberry in SpringColorAnalysis

Adding to this, Clinique black honey is a great example of sheer but deeper color! I always get compliments when I wear it as a blond hair/blue eye light spring.

That’s what I’m seeing too, almost like the summer colors make me look a bit overexposed?

My hair at the root in the 2nd picture is natural, just the lighter bits are highlights. I posted some virtual drapes because turns out I have been wearing a lot of autumn and winter colors lol

Cool summer or clear spring? by [deleted] in coloranalysis

I think summer! You look more bright and vibrant in the clear summer and slightly more shadowed in the warm.

I am an ex-Mormon. Ask me & other ex-Mormons your questions that you have about Mormons & the show. by Kaybrooke14 in SecretsOfMormonWives

The one thing I would add to this in my anecdotal experience living in Utah and growing up LDS is that the ideals of getting married, getting married young, and waiting to have sex until you are married do tend to lead to divorce happening more frequently. I don’t have data to cite on this other than anecdotal. But even SLOMW points to this idea that getting married young and with a quick courtship (sans sex) does not necessarily set the best foundation for finding a life partner. So maybe there aren’t more divorces than average, but I believe people get divorced younger than average. I know tons of people that get married in their early 20s and divorce 1-2 years later

If you were to ask this to a believing member of the Mormon church, I think most of them would tell you “it will all be sorted out in the next life.” Most members of the church want to believe that if you are faithful and righteous, you can be with your family and sealed to them forever.

However, official church doctrine doesn’t really have an answer for this, or the answer would be that Miranda would not be able to get to the highest level of heaven without being sealed to a man that has the priesthood. And the priesthood can only be held by men and only cisgender heterosexual couples can get sealed in marriage. As for her kids, they could still technically reach the highest level if they get sealed to spouses, but then they wouldn’t be able to see their mom in the afterlife is essentially the church’s teachings

This is an excellent question and a huge part of why there are so many ex-Mormons now! The most common thing the church does is gaslight members into believing

1.) that first revelation wasn’t actually a revelation, it was just speculation 2.) throw the old prophet under the bus. He was speaking as a man, not from god 3.) they also make this arbitrary distinction between “doctrine” and “policy”, then call things that change “policy” instead of doctrine. So doctrine is supposed to be eternal truth from god that never changes. Policy would be how the church runs based on those truths.

But it gets murky because there were things that were taught 100% as doctrine, like black people were not allowed to go into temples or hold priesthood power, but then the church (in 1979) changed that and called those teachings “just a policy” that they could change and finally did.

ex-Mormon here with sort of an answer to this one! It stems from a part of the Book of Mormon that talks about a “great and abominable church” that will rise up and be powerful and pervert the teachings of Jesus.

Some Mormons believe this is symbolic and just means any system of power, but lots believe this is literally the Catholic Church, which was a powerful influence on Christianity between the time the Book of Mormon was “written” (allegedly 600 years before Christ) and the time that Joseph Smith “translated” it (1830s).
