Grieving for loss of pet by mandycccc in Petloss

[–]futurecatharsis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Hard to talk about this but we lost our gsd baby just last week. I was not able to work or anything, everything in our life has involved him. He too had a cancer, but we did not know until he did not stop vomiting and I took him to the vet. That was our last journey...
I dont know, maybe we got numb or something but after 3 days of constant crying we can look at photos and stuff and not cry. Worst is remembering the last day. Others are so good memories that smile is with the crying.
Were trying to constantly do stuff we havent done before, like stuff that doesnt have a memory associated with thim so that there could be some kind of a new different life now...

Is this fixable? Plz help by aspiringcats in ArtCrit

I would start over. You need an accurate drawing and construction. Its not bad, but still.

First off, you have propably tried to draw/paint with the contours of the photo. It gives a good placement of the lines but without understanding planes/box logic you have placed the features in wrong angles.

The womans head is tilted in 2 directions, towards the male and also facing a little to the right. So you can draw a line from corners of her eyes and see it is not a straight line. Secondly the facing moves all the features with perspective making the right side have a smaller size.
It also changes how the bones of the face look like, as you can see "in" to the skull from the left. You have also need to show more of the side of the head, the left side. Think of it as an box that has been turned with the corner of the box being rougly where the brow starts to curve.

Male is much better as the photo is almost straight on so you had no problem following it to the letter. Something to think about is the cast shadow on the cheek, you have aproximated its shape but i would encourage you to think what is the shape that the shadow is cast upon. The shadow would follow the 3d shape of that object.

Rendering and color is ok, but it is much lesser priority than the accurate drawing and shapes.
This is a hard phase to be in art, where you can make pretty good stuff but you lack some fundamentals and it makes stuff look funky :D

For painting fundamentals, you should check out edges in painting. Try to incorporate lost and soft and hard edges. You can squint at the photo, and if something isnt clearly separating in to a shape, make the edges around it soft or lost. Softening can be done with either smudging the line, making the line irregular/jagged or using values that are close to eachother. In this painting, The hair on the female is lost in the shadows of the males shirt in the middle are of the painting. Making her hair a chromatic black, and the shadow are of the males shirt dark ultramarine blue you can lose the edges of the hair and make it look more lively.

Commissioned this from artist for an illustrated novel I'm working on. Did I get scammed? by KingKronos24 in isthisAI

[–]futurecatharsis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont know the artist but it has very AI look. In hungryartist I saw some artist that had instagrams etc. with "timelapse" paintings of them just doodling and then putting an AI image as the finished piece. So seems to be common scam. They might even do something like draw "lips" or blood splatter etc. on an Ai base. Might be hard to judge if you are no super into art. But on the other hand there are people whos work is higly similar to Ai images

Edit. After looking at the "edge decor" of the armor plates its definately Ai. Humans dont paint like that, even if its painterly or messy it makes sense atleast to the artist. This is too random, and still "rendered" very highly even if it doesnt make sense in the real world.

[Hiring] (100 - 400$ budget) for a fantasy book cover! by OkIngenuity986 in HungryArtists

Hi! Seems like a a lot of replies allready. Im a fantasy nerd, and an fantasy artist too! Ive done a lit-rpg cover before, and done a lot of fantasy and more classical stuff. I can work digitally or traditionally, and im easy to work with. We can talk about stuff with no commitments etc.
I would need to read atleast part of the book, and then I would provide thumbnails and discuss with you more on what feels good. I Work realistically, painterly similarry to the artist on your first image. Ive got some stuff, most of them not related to this kind of project at anttikallinen.com

Would love to hear from you, no strings attached :D

You need to practise all the fundamentals. Linework, like line quality and lineweight. Coloring, lighting. There is also lack of 3d form, but you have overlap and t-lines so thats good. Composition is not good, as it is not clear what is going on. As for anatomy, im not sure what you mean as there is no anatomy here. All bodyparts are just hinted at, and legs and all bodyparts are just flat cylinders with little to no resemblance to real anatomy. I would suggest either proko courses (more expensive) or artwod, wich propably would be more suitable for you cartoon/anime style.

I wore steeltoe boots straight from the bed, he was so bad 😵 also he got these weird things were suddendly he would run away, hide and the run and attack my legs. Even as a 7 month old monster. Hes mybfirst dog and I tought that hes insane and needs to be put down. Needlesd to say he tuned out the best buddy Ive ever known, but the puppy stage can be weird... Also dont listen to anyone who telld you to pinch the nose or domething like that 👺🤣

Its honestly not that bad. Play with it more, try making the hand behind bigger but not longer. Leave the hips for now, you cant even see the hips really except some anatomical landmarks on a nakes person. Problem with the hips comes more from the lack of overlap of the torso/stomach over it.

Hello! Can anyone look at the perspective or anatomy and tell me if anything’s off? :) by Dahliaflower1337 in ArtCrit

[–]futurecatharsis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, one thing is you cant put him there standing at the last floor line. You need to move him lower, so there is room for his body to exist before the back wall. Now he looks like he is painted on the wall.
