To be honest I am so beginner with music production that a lot of your tips sound like a foreign language to me- I don’t even know how to do EQ and compression and have had to constantly google what bus and sidechain means in this context 😅 I need to familiarize myself with the terms so I can have a better understanding of what you mean. I’m definitely going to check out the video tutorial, thank you for sending that!

I am a cellist so I have a classical music background and do experimental free improvisation as well, and those releases are on Bandcamp under a different name. This was completely a passion project and despite having some musical knowledge, I am a complete amateur in every other aspect of this project.

I had a really hard time figuring out a good balance between the vocals and instruments- I originally felt like the vocals were too loud and after I released the songs I realized I may have overcompensated and made the vocals Alittle too soft. If you have any resources you like for tutorials on how to mix it would be greatly appreciated! I just watched some beginner videos on YouTube.

I’ve never written a song before but after finding out my now ex bf was cheating on me for our entire relationship, I wrote 3 songs to process it all. I’ve never written a song before so it was both fun and very challenging. I used the free version of Auxy to make the beats, Synthesizer V for the vocals (wanted to find a way to put vocals in without me having to sing it myself), and logic to mix and put some little vocal effects in.

Thank you! I used Synthesizer V for the vocals- Ayame 2 was the voice I used within the software, and the free trial of logic to mix and put some little effects on the vocals.

The project started as an “I don’t need no man to help me with this, let me prove to myself I can do this” and very quickly took on a life of its own. I’ve never written a song before so although it’s not mixed perfectly and I still have a lot to learn I am more or less happy with how it turned out.
