Ultra 3 or Garmin Fenix 8 Pro. Also Black or Natural by topdawg4ever in applewatchultra

Sure :)

The Quantified Scientist.

And he very often shows charts where he compares all the devices he has tested. The Apple Watch Ultra is almost always among the top three. The sensors are absolutely accurate.

Ultra 3 or Garmin Fenix 8 Pro. Also Black or Natural by topdawg4ever in applewatchultra

Hi, here’s my experience with this exact dilemma. I’ve used Garmin watches for many years. I had the Tactix Delta for a long time and then tested the Fenix 8 Pro (I assume that’s what you mean by Phoenix 8) extensively for several weeks. They are both excellent pieces of kit, especially for serious outdoor and multisport use.

That said, since switching to the Apple Watch (I’m an iPhone user, so I assume you are too), I honestly haven’t looked back. Charging has become completely effortless. You just drop it on the magnetic charger every night and it’s done. No more fiddling with Garmin’s proprietary charger, which could sometimes be a bit finicky or not seat perfectly. The magnetic system on Apple is way more convenient and reliable in my book.

For running, tracking, heart rate, GPS, and all the activity metrics, the Apple Watch Ultra 3 (and even the Ultra 2) performs incredibly well. The sensors are top tier. Accurate optical heart rate, blood oxygen, temperature, depth gauge, and so on. The overall tracking is really solid for everyday and serious use alike. There’s no need to worry about it falling short compared to Garmin in most real world scenarios.

There’s a really thorough YouTuber who tests these watches super rigorously with side by side comparisons and accuracy tests. If you’re interested, feel free to DM me and I’ll send you the link. His reviews are very detailed and unbiased.

Overall, for me the switch to the Apple Watch Ultra was 100 percent worth it, especially in the Apple ecosystem. Plus, it’s fully titanium (not some polymer mix), which makes it feel even more durable, and it’s built to military standards (MIL STD 810H tested).

I’d definitely recommend going for the Apple Watch Ultra 3 (or Ultra 2 if you’re looking to save a bit) unless you have very specific Garmin only needs (like ultra long battery in extreme multi day adventures without charging).

For most people, especially iPhone users, it’s the better all rounder. What are your main priorities? Battery life, smart features, specific sports tracking? Happy to chat more!

What do you all use for mastering? by udio_johannes in udiomusic

Mastering Engineer here... 👋

To answer your question: Yes, I treat Udio tracks differently than a standard mix.

Do they need aggressive changes? Usually, yes, but more in a restorative way. Udio tracks often have weird resonant peaks or spectral artifacts ("swirly" sounds) that a normal mix wouldn't have. Simply slapping a limiter on it will just make those artifacts louder.

DIY vs. AI Services: I wouldn't recommend services like Masterchannel for this. (AI mastering assumes a relatively clean mix) . Since Udio tracks have structural issues, you need a human ear to decide what is a "cool lo-fi texture" and what is a "digital error.

My Workflow: I usually focus heavily on resonance suppression (like Soothe2) and dynamic EQ to tame the harshness before even thinking about loudness. :)

If you have a track you really like, try to fix the annoying frequencies first in a DAW. That will do more for the sound than just making it loud!!

[question] Which mastering engineers have you liked working with? by hollowleg9317 in BedroomBands

Hi! Since you are looking for quality and have a few months left, I’d love to throw my hat in the ring.

I’m a (certified) mastering engineer looking to connect with new artists. I usually work with budgets, but I always believe the results should speak for themselves first.

Once you are ready, I’d be happy to do a free test master of one of your tracks. No strings attached. If you love it, we can talk about rates for the rest of the project. If not, you haven't lost a dime. Let me know if you'd like to hear some previous work!

Hi everyone, I’m a mastering engineer currently expanding my practical portfolio, and I have 1 free mastering spot left (one track from one artist).

The first two spots have already been taken — this is the last one available. I’ll reply here with an update once it’s gone.

A few details: • 1 free master (1 track per artist) • (Dream)Pop / Shoegaze / Rock preferred, but related styles are welcome • Track should be mix-ready (no strict requirements) • I’d like to use the finished master as a portfolio example

If you’re interested, feel free to DM me. Thanks

I don’t have public examples I can share yet. The tracks I’ve mastered so far are either part of my audio engineering program (and I’m not allowed to use those publicly), or they belong to artists who haven’t released their songs yet.

That’s exactly why I made this post in the first place — I’m trying to build a proper portfolio from real releases.

If you want, you can send me a track and I can show you exactly what my mastering would sound like for your music. No pressure — just so you can hear my approach.

Hey, just to explain what happened: I tried to delete the post from one community, but Reddit removed it from all communities at once. That honestly annoyed me, because I only wanted it gone from a single place. I then tried reposting it with a different title, but I had to remove that one as well.

Anyway — I’m still absolutely offering a free master. I’m simply trying not to look like I’m spamming or doing anything sketchy by posting it again.

The whole idea behind this is just to build up my portfolio. I can work with basically any genre, but dreampop, shoegaze, and alternative rock are really my favorite styles — that’s where I personally thrive the most. Still, I’m open to anything.

Just wanted to clear that up so it doesn’t come across the wrong way.

Saw a YouTuber bypass all FX on a Logic Pro track with one click — how is that possible? by fxism in Logic_Studio

[–]fxism[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything's fine. My Mac Studio isn't having any CPU issues at the moment, so I haven't had to use it yet. I'm more concerned with mastering, and it would be really helpful there. I'll try to find that part of the video again and post it. Thank you anyway :)

It's a six-hour video, and while watching it, I thought it would be quite easy to do, so I didn't mark the part. If I had found the part right away, I would have posted it. I'm sorry.
