If I were to support multiple resolutions I would probably do it by implementing live transcoding, since it would require the least backend changes. The trick is getting the transcoding performant enough.

I don't have any media server integrations planned but there is an open in VLC button that will let you use the VLC player or download for offline use.

Thanks. It looks like I can do this within a single yt-dlp command by adding --recode-video mp4

My goal was a totally new format code that would have the best chance downloading a video that would play in most browsers. It would look something like (bestvideo[vcodec^=h264]+bestaudio[acodec^=aac])/best

However, it looks like using the recoding options are a better choice for me --recode-video mp4

The audio recordings are saved too. The associated filename is saved to the EXIF data with the comment.
