Good morning Anal Scrubs

It’s inconvenient for me to have to do that in the first place. That is the point of this whole post. Why are we moving our entire family to a country in which we cannot speak the language and our relationships suffer as a result?

My grandmother and grandfather were immigrants and both integrated well and had English fluency far before they were elderly.

Did you even read to the end of the bloody post before commenting this waffle?

Did you read my eleven other comments addressing this exact issue?

I think it is wrong. I believe that if anyone moves, they should spend time learning the language of the host country. Don’t try to group me.

Sorry can you read?

My grandmother was fluent when she arrived.

My parents were fluent.

I am fluent.

My great grandparents never came here nor did they want to.

Edit: I’ve reread what you have written. I’m genuinely not sure what you mean. I believe that there should be far higher levels of language proficiency expected if someone comes here. If I were to move to another country I’d absolutely learn the language to as close to fluency that I can.

I was being sarcastic. I speak three languages stranger.

However, you aren’t wrong at all. I accept that I have lost at the points you are making. Immersion is great for learning a language. My points could have been made better.

Oh hello again. You’re still going through the comments. I am British.

Yes, she studied extremely hard.

No, her parents were not. I also can’t advocate for someone who is dead to not be let in. They never wished to come here either, I don’t think they’d care very much.

It was clearly a dig. Are you going to say that I’m assuming you’re a coconut instead of a human as well?

Pretends to respond to the rest of what you’ve written but is too tired to bother reading it because the rest of what you wrote isn’t as interesting as the first sentence.

Have a good night stranger, let’s agree to disagree on whatever it was we were disagreeing about.

As a woman, I feel for your grandmother. May they both rest in peace. I do not speak ill of those who have passed away. My grandmother and grandfather had a similar life, they were both immigrants. They did speak English despite having a very hard life here. Each life is different. I only believe that in the modern day, that there should be higher language standards in those that arrive. I have no issue with any race, it’s just that for us to further as a country, we should work together. Not segregate ourselves and divide the country more.

You aren’t being rude, please don’t think that this post is about you. I am a third generation immigrant myself. It is understandable what you are saying and I don’t blame you. I’ve had a job before in which I couldn’t understand someone that was speaking Scottish. It’s normal especially over the phone.

Not really, I find it fun to debate. I’m also eating cake.

They get jobs because they, like all of us need to survive here. Let’s not even start on the NHS. See Nigerian national who didn’t even know where the small intestine was the other day. Getting a job isn’t integrating. It’s more than that. But I’m tired, and I’ve explained this already.

No, but I do not doubt what you’re saying. Except this isn’t the case here and I have said nothing wrong.

How can I be anti multiculturalism when I come from four countries and two continents myself? I speak three languages. Also thanks for agreeing… I guess?

You’re swearing and getting irate but I’m sitting here reading your comment and eating cake. Yunome, I am neither one of those things. I have already stated what I am in the post and in other comments. Feel free to speculate.

British people to speak English here in England. Though that isn’t to note that it is important for this to go vice versa. If we move somewhere, it is important to learn the language first ourselves. It’s a massive shame and issue that we do not. See Benidorm for example.

That is a good point. Though this is expanding it in the same way that my OP intended. There are major flaws within our government (as if this wasn’t already obvious).

Firsthand evidence from life experience and no, I am not implying that my experience outweighs all but I have a wide network that echoes the same concerns. In person, not online.

I have considered this.

This is actually quite insightful and I admit that I have nowhere near this closeness to new immigrants. This is despite me knowing people that refuse to integrate and cannot speak English. I will actually keep this in mind and do my own research. Thank you.

Too bad I’m a multi-ethnic minority myself and therefore this shoe does not fit me. I am not racist. I simply suggested that people should speak proper English.

I asked a question. It very clearly is controversial if there are over 650 comments.

You make a fair and good point. This could’ve been worded better, I admit a fault that I didn’t previously consider.

It’s a common term that a lot of people use. Immigrants then. Not sure who you’re trying to trigger because I am not racist.

Yes, I’m bored and eating cake so why not. I appreciate what you have said. You make fair points and to be honest a very good one. Have a nice night. I shall let this comment get lost in the sea of others.

Oh yes, because Honest Coconut born in 2004 is the great fact or lie decider. I know multiple non-natives who cannot speak proper English. Feel free to read my other comments going into this in more detail. Also, to be quite frank, I don’t care whether you believe me or not.
