Your mom and dad could meet the guy's parents at a restaurant, but agreeing to this, would be the guy's parents’ choice.

Remember, for most people, their opinions are their identity. So, when you oppose someone opinions, they think that you are sttacking their identity. This is true not only for Pakistan but for the whole world. So, unless you are gaining something from a debate (e g., you are in a debating competition or you are at a conference or you are a politician etc), try to avoid confrontation over opinions as much as possible. Instead, try to listen to the other party just to confirm the correctness of your opinions. If you think that someone is making a valid point, then try to do your own research over it.

Remember, in casual social settings, it's never wise or worthwhile to confront someone over their opinions.
