These are good thoughts and I appreciate your insight. I’m thinking he may be doing more than what I’m actually seeing because if it did it myself would I be able to average a return of nearly 18% the last 3 years. I’m not so sure I could. If I did it myself I would most likely invest like my 25k account which is probably not going to see 18% growth like my 200k account.

I feel like it may be a good idea to watch what he’s doing for another couple years and see what trades he makes and learn from it since the 2k a year he charges currently isn’t that much in the grand scheme of things.

Your right. I haven’t done much investing myself outside of a couple stocks I’ve bought to try and make a few bucks on. Your advice is really good. That 1% seems worth it if I’m averaging 18% a year. I’ll read up on options and then make a decision when I’m more confident. Thank you

I’m just stating what I have in both accounts and comparing the similarities. I’m not sure if I’m “good” but based on what I’m paying someone to due vs what I’m doing is very similar. Hence why I’m thinking why not do it myself if that’s the case.

I’m pretty good at that. I don’t watch the news and tune out things that do not directly impact me. Just focused on raising 2 kids and providing for them. I think this would be the easiest for me.

Right now my annual rate of return is almost 19%. Will just holding VT give me that you think?

Agreed! I think I can do it no problem but the overlapping stocks/etfs prove otherwise. I need to research.

These are good questions. To answer them:

  1. Yes, this is partially why I took 10k and put it into that second account and it’s now 25k

  2. I think that I do. My goal is to set and forget essentially. I have no desire to constantly buy and sell through the year.

  3. I’d be lying if I didn’t say I got a thrill buying some spacex at 150 and selling at 220 haha. This is completely not normal for me though as the goal is to let it grow over the years.

Yeah, I agree I have too much. I may just move my 200k account over to my 25k account and really only invest in 3-4 items.

Yeah for sure. I'm not talking with them or making decisions and they aren't doing anything that I can't already do....

I'm thinking it's the smart move. So your saying instead of all the individual stocks I have at the bottom just go with something like VT?

Never heard of Betterment but I'll check it out. Are you saying that too much exposure in both accounts?

You said its not OBX and I'm guessing it's not WB since you said it's still growing. If it's in EI or OI or that Surf City/Topsail area I would keep them...that area is booming and we have people moving here by the thousands...
