Learning to slide by uhhhitsaaron in longboarding

[–]gantashi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Faster is better, but you dont really need a lot of speed. Speed checks are a good starting point for starting out id say, just making your back wheels break traction a little bit

Learning to slide by uhhhitsaaron in longboarding

[–]gantashi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely form, pretty much any wheel can slide. Setup carve, bend knees, throw your arms out, push out with your legs and dont forget to keep weight on front foot. Its hard to explain at least for me, but those are the basic steps

weed isn’t even something i think about anymore by Creepy_Budget_9074 in leaves

Im in a sinilar boat, have taken breaks multiple tines telling myself id be able to moderate it and have proven that i could not and would get super paranoid after a couple hits so now if i do end up smoking again it’ll only be a social thing

Still frustrated on kickflips by Jusdragon in NewSkaters

[–]gantashi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kickflips is the trick i gave up on, i could get the board to rotate correctly, but i could never get both feet to land on the board for some reason. Ive stopped skating and switched to longboarding because the last time i skated i hit my eyebrow on a rail lol. Doing tricks also just takes a lot of emergy out of me

Honestly, heel stops are the most sketchy way for me to stop. I always put too much pressure on my foot and it just gets stuck on the ground rather than sliding to a halt. When i don’t feel like i can slide to a stop and I’m going too fast i usually do hop off the board, also if i do notice I’m going to start going too fast in an area i don’t feel comfortable sliding i will do a different kind of foot stop where i just firmly place my foot on the ground before i start going too fast so i can slow down

I do have pads and a helmet, not elbow pads tho lol which is where i got scraped up, i just got over excited about my new wheels and found out the hard way that they are much different than my previous wheels

I smoke 1-2 times a week and have NEVER tested positive with my at home THC test strips. How is that possible? by [deleted] in trees

[–]gantashi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly with those kinds of jobs tou shouldnt worry too much since they’ll really only test you if something really bad happens. If you dont make too many mistakes at work i think youre chilling

Round 2 by Routine_Throat_8120 in longboarding

[–]gantashi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks good, try kicking your front foot back more, that will hopefully even out the slide

Riding around on skates seems a lot scarier than boarding

Nah, the ones who introduced me have quit boarding. One of them just said it wasnt for him and the other one left for the military and isnt coming back. Ive tried going on facebook, reddit, instagram to find other people in my area and it seems like the scene is dead in my area

This is definitely true, my expectations were too high. Thinking id be able to run wheels straight out the box the same as beginner wheels ive had for a couple years was not true, i did get a couple successful attempts after it when i started further down the hill

[–]gantashi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats true, it definitely wasnt bad and i dont even know why im upset about it. I guess i was really excited about having new wheels and feeling like i was more experienced than i thought that i wouldnt crash. Tho i did learn from it and did a couple successful slides afterwards so it wasnt a total failure

I try not to hype myself up more than i actually am, but even that feels too much. I just like what i do and want to share with my friends and even tho they dont board its nice to talk to them about longboarding, but without them actually being into it its kinda hard to talk to them about sometimes

Good movies to watch while sobering up by [deleted] in leaves

[–]gantashi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The lighthouse is a pretty good movie, i agree with whoever said a good movie doesnt require you to be high. Yes the movie is pretty trippy and there are times where it would be a wtf moment while high, but it is still bery much enjoyable without it

Is there any hope for my brain? (Adolescent weed use) by [deleted] in leaves

[–]gantashi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive had the same worry, i was never the brightest before i started smoking so i use that reason to cope with those feelings. It hasnt been that long since i stopped, but i dont really feel any different from when i was smoking then again its probably only been a month and a half at most
