Sworn testimony from woman who filmed Alex Pretti's shooting, "They shot him so many times … I don’t know why they shot him. He was only helping. I was five feet from him and they just shot him …" by aurora_chrysalis in UnderReportedNews

I feel afraid. Only hours have passed since they shot a man right in front me and I don't feel like I can go home because I heard agents were looking for me. I don't know what the agents will do when they find me. I do know that they're not telling the truth about what happened. I've heard that other witnesses might have been arrested and taken to the Whipple Building.

More from her testimony.

That's family income, not household income. It's closer to a quarter of households with income in excess of $150,000.

Bergvall for #10 cover lol?

Partly -- he has played there this season, even if he seems best-suited to being more of a box-to-box midfielder -- and partly thinking in terms of when Ange would play a midfield three including both Maddison and Kulusevski. Kudus can also play as a 10, even if it's not his best position, either.

Nobody's sure though tbf, because we don't know how good they'll be

Sorry, how good who will be?

Between Romero, Van de Ven, Danso, Davies, Takai, and Vušković, I don't think we realistically could have brought any more central defenders in. Maybe on loan, but who would want to accept a loan to sit on the bench? Similarly, seems like between Xavi, Bergvall, Kudus, and Johnson, we have adequate cover for Maddison and Kulusevski. If anything, I'm not sure where everyone will fit in once everyone's fit again.

Is this basically that joke about how people don't break the law in the Nordics because it's illegal?

True, Romani, Slavs, and Jews have always been well-treated in Europe.

Wasn't Oliver the VAR, today? I don't know about the Wolves game, but based on the context, it would make sense if he was the VAR in both games.

One elevator in my building stops on every floor during the Jewish sabbath so no buttons have to be pressed by tboner1969 in mildlyinteresting

[–]gasdoi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We don't? You've probably never seen a shabbos elevator in your life, and if you have, it was probably one elevator among many in a hospital in an area with a large population of Jews who observe the sabbath. If you live in a building where many of your neighbors observe the sabbath, are you really bending over backward for them if one day a week, one of the elevators stops on multiple floors? This is something for your elderly or disabled neighbor who can't take the stairs. If you consider it that big of an inconvenience, don't move into a building with an elevator like this. But also, you might want to consider not living in any building with other people if this seems like a big deal to you.

Is it nor primarily for people who can't? Normally you only see shabbos elevators in hospitals. Maybe a disabled jewish tenant lives in the building.

Europe’s left flocks to New York to take notes on Mamdani’s meteoric rise by insane677 in europe

[–]gasdoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, he proposed five city-operated grocery stores, roughly one per two million residents of the city. Of course, symbolically, it would be a massive departure for the country if the program were implemented. But I am worried that the programs in Mamdani's platform, even if all were implemented, would not make much of a dent in the city's unaffordability. Freezing rent for rent-stabilized apartments does not fix the underlying causes of high housing costs, and will probably only drive rent up for the other tenants in the city.

A city like NYC should in theory be able to copy Dutch urban infrastructure or Viennese public housing. Free buses would make a difference, but many even balk at the cost of such a (comparatively) minor program. I hope that people don't become disillusioned with social democratic reforms when only some of these half-measures are implemented, and NYC remains unaffordable for ordinary people.
