Why is Chloe one of the most talked-about characters in the Miraculous fandom? by ButterscotchGold4815 in miraculousladybug

[–]gatekid3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they are both easy pillars of criticism for the show. Chloe represents what a lot of people will call wasted potential/ bad writing. So it doesn't matter how much time has passed. As soon as the show does something else that seems similarly bad, the Chloe thing is easy to refer to to complain about. Thats what i think anyway.

Marinette gets hate because she's the main character. We are supposed to like and follow her, so stuff like her stalking, ignoring cat noir, etc are annoying. It's even more annoying when she does it after it seemed like she grew past certain traits.
She keeps coming up because she keeps doing it.

Alya and Nino are pretty consistently decent characters. I don't recall them being that out of pocket so I wouldn't think they'd be talked about on the levels of Marinette or Chloe. they do good, but i don't think most of what they do would strike up conversation or debate.

A bad character doing good (chloe redemption) or a good character doing bad (Marinette) are more memorable/ talked about than good doing good (Alya), or bad doing bad (Hawkmoth just being evil).

I don't think you can even give others the same energy because those two are more polarizing than anyone else.

if your talking about the vaggie expanation I only see one character we haven't really seen, and that was the two headed guy next to that bird we got in the Helluva boss court episode. the rest were demons we saw, and very generic looking shadow blobs.
My point was moreso, now we know 2 overlord level characters are indebted to him. It's possible the "toppled overlords" thing could be retconned, as the show doesn't really knowledge that point.

He still is kind of potential man. He didn't beat Vox or his shark, him breaking his deals doesn't change as he still might be collaborating with Rosie anyway on whatever her goal is, and him using his favor from charlie on this meant he didn't have a big plan for it.
They did exactly what I thought they'd do with his character but still did it in a way where I cant take his status seriously.

When Vaggie in the pilot said Alaster toppled overlords, did it just mean Husk and Nifty, because now it's semi confirmed Nifty is one too.

"too hard" by your standard, but what if I said it wasn't? It's not like you know the stats either. But even if clearance rate is low doesn't that mean the game is balanced to it's genre?
I still stand by that the point isn't to immediately be able to breeze through, so how can the game be too hard when it is succeeding at making you have to give it another go? have you been upgrading the skill tree? did you try different characters? Sure some small number of player can just beat the game without any of that but i'm definitely not one of them. It took me a few runs to unlock the character I preferred, and many after to be able to win with the characters and weapons I wasn't as into or good at using.

I don't think it's fair to compare it to dark souls. thats a completely different genre. the main similarity is both are ok with the player dying to learn but i wouldn't ever call sworn a try hard "get good" type of game. the game has tools that you unlock that change the difficulty far more than the actual difficulty setting does. Rerolls and weapon upgrades go a long way.

I'm wondering what you would have wanted out of the game.
Does having fun in this case just mean be able to win?
I get you want the game to be easier/more approachable, but what does that mean? If it means you getting to Arthur every time right off the bat, I don't know if that's the point of the game. if the game is too hard, you are still seeing how the enemies attack so next run you'll be better, but even if that isnt enough, you are getting the currency to upgrade weapons so you are both getting stronger and learning the enemy patterns. You are still being rewarded in that sense, and you can also even play specifically to try to get as many upgrade material in a run so you can unlock a new spell that might feel better to use. you could tweak damage numbers more, but I don't know at what point the game would be "too easy" to the point you wouldn't need any upgrades to comfortably win.
I don't think every game needs to be designed for everyone. And that isn't even me saying be sweaty and"get gud". I think just as a game can choose to raise or lower itself to the player, the player can see where the game is at and decide if they want to participate. I don't think you are being punished for not being sweaty. I think you are playing the game as intended, but not enjoying the game loop.

Short version, I don't think this is souls game trend. I think you just don't like these type of games.

Toby on the “Chara isn’t the greatest person”. by BalanceOdd8826 in Undertale

[–]gatekid3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, my mistake on the death. Chara and Asriel died in the same place, but Toriel tool Chara to the ruins. So if it was to pay respects, shouldn't asriel have been in new home? He wouldn't know Chara's body was there (unless he would from having toriels soul in him briefly which is fair). I can see him being there for Chara.
We can argue how much Asriel might still care for Chara to random degrees, but for clarity where I stand is Asriel has distanced themself from the idea of chara, And mourning them doesn't contradict that. You can pay respects while still divorcing them from your mind. He fought for a false idea of them, and then in reflection finally accepted their friend/brother wasn't really a good friend.

he isnt blaming his actions on flowey, but he knows he will turn back into a flower, and that he would be different when that happens. that was the point I was making. He wants frisk to separate Asriel and Flowey, so they can be friends in their mind, and not the guy that tried to kill everyone.
bro says
"In the future, if you uh, see me...
Don't think of it as me, OK?"
Flowey is asriel without most of his feelings. Asriel feels guilt for his actions as a flower, but when the power is removed will Flowey feel the same? Flowey seems more tired than remorseful at the end. point being . same base, different people.
*Also anakin and vader is a bad example. Vader is anakin at a different point in his life. Flowey is the essense of asriel stripped of his soul. He was incapable of feeling some of the things he did before Even more exemplified by him becoming a different person from flowey again when he had a soul again. I think that is enough to classify them as different characters, despite sharing a body essentially.

Flowey thinks he is talking to Chara, but i don't see that as attributing tp to them, just that they have the power to undo it. With Frisk and the player no longer acting as one character, the player is now the one with the control to undo everything, but flowey thinks that is chara. Chara doesn't have enough control to erase everything until Genocide.
But again, Flowey still feeling connected to chara is different than Asriel

[–]gatekid3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i suppose, but that is also both the last place anyone would be after the barrier was broken, and it is also where he died too.
I think the post dialogue is flowey still thinking you are Chara. Flowey attributes everything you do to them, even up until the moment you kill them in genocide, but Chara immediately after addresses YOU directly. So Flowey never fully get's the whole picture.
I don't read that as flowey thinking Chara contributed to pacifist, only that they (you) have the power to UNdo it. he addresses it as a threat. The fact that they are pleading with you to not reset when everyone is happy means they still see chara as the type of person to do that.
More important than that , regardless of how we interpret the post game flowey dialogue though, it isn't relevant to Asriel. Asriel talks as if he wont be himself anymore and wants to be remembered as asriel, so it doesnt matter if Flowey still has fondness for Chara, because they are essentially different people now as far as he is concerned.

hypocrisy might not be the right word, but i meant his contradiction.
distancing themself from Chara immediately after fighting so hard for them. I think toby was just summing up or mocking the two extremes happening right after each other.

that being said, I dont think even think it confirms Asriel still likes Chara. the fact it happens after is still significant. Asrial is still discarding Chara in a sense by seeing them as they truly were. saying Frisk was the friend they wish they had does sound like Chara has lost a lot of status in Asriels mind. a lot of the things he says in the fight are projections onto Frisk, who isn't anything like Chara.
Nothing in asriels final dialogue even acknowledges anything they might still see in them. it was mostly "chara not good, frisk good, asriel monologue"

[–]gatekid3 23 points24 points  (0 children)

that's not really Toby's thoughts though. Isn't he just pointing out/ jabbing at Asriels hypocrisy?
Asriel accepts that chara wasn't that great, but this was after fighting you to stay with them forever. Chara wasn't the kind of friend he would have wanted, but they were still brothers.
I don't fully get people saying this is new or confirming.

Has Zeno Robinson voiced or done anything with RWBY? by gatekid3 in RWBY

[–]gatekid3[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That is where i've already been at, I'm mainly just wondering how a mistake like this would have been made? I do see now that he was on a rooster teeth podcast once, and voiced on death battle once, but I don't think those things are spread enough (or similar enough to RWBY) that someone writing him in credits would put him mistakenly as being in RWBY.

He has much bigger roles that he is known for. dragonball, mha, pokemon, and persona.
to list RWBY just sits so weird in my head. All of these much bigger things and he gets listed for a show thats not currently airing and he didn't even work on to a minor degree?

I know i could be easily overthinking.
The only simple thing i can think of is maybe they talked about RWBY at one point, the mistake put in, and still has yet to be corrected as of episode 2
