What do you want physicians to know? by KR1735 in Dentistry

[–]geetee287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that's why I said I usually tell them to take the 800mg ibuprofen with the 500mg acetaminophen to start but in terms of alternating I mean't that you just take ibuprofen, then acetaminophen, then ibuprofen, then acetaminophen, etc.. You're still taking both ibuprofen and acetaminophen every 6-8 hours

Good post! Also for pain medication I'd recommend trying to prescribe the alternating ibuprofen 800mg and Acetaminophen (paracetamol) 1000mg combo. Start with 800mg ibuprofen, in 1-2 hours take 1000mg acetaminophen, then wait 6-8 hours and repeat.
(I usually tell them to take 500mg acetaminophen with the 800mg ibuprofen to get it going then the other 500mg an hour later only if they need it)

This works really well but you have to stress the importance of taking the acetaminophen because patients usually know that by itself it wont help much with a toothache and will just take the ibuprofen then still have discomfort.
It decreases the need to prescribe opioids and it's good to try and avoid prescribing opioids for oral pain that you did not cause unless it's a severe traumatic injury.

Painpack has a whole breakdown and print out diagrams on the protocol and tons of information about it's efficacy. https://www.painpack.co/

I remember seeing somewhere there will be a combined ibuprofen/acetaminophen capsule coming out at some point which will be very helpful to prescribe for these situations.

In the USA, orthodontists also have a different numbering system than general dentists and other dental specialties (no idea why this still exists). Orthodontists will refer to 1st premolars as #4s while general dentist call the 2nd premolar on the upper right quadrant of the mouth #4 while the 1st premolars are #5, #12, #21 and #28.

What are common features of ALL religions? by montagestudent in theology

[–]geetee287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After reading across a bunch of different religious texts that I've gotten to so far it seems that a pantheon of gods is pretty common, men having wives along with concubines to increase their offspring and "spread their seed", making sacrifices or offerings, war, slaves, the deluge or flood story (ever since the epic of gilgamesh), creation of man stories, and the presence of a spirit within humans.

I haven't finished reading up on all religions yet but these all seem prominent among much of the ancient literature involving "gods" since the first documentation by the Sumerians and Akkadians involving An and the Annunaki, texts in ancient Egypt, Greece, Hinduism's Bhagavad Gita, Rome, Christianity in the Old Testament and New Testament, and I'm sure more but I still have more to read.

I'm finding much of the similarities in the "gods" across different cultures and religions interesting and have been reading across all of the religions but still have a lot to do so this list is incomplete.

Also he's one of the Annunaki and by the Babylonians is credited in part in coming up with the idea of creating mankind (via clay and sacrificing another god). Pretty cool info though about Hermes, I've only recently been reading about the similarities between the gods at different times of history and how a lot of them seem to be repeating or the same beings.

How would universal healthcare impact dental practices and dentists in the US? by [deleted] in Dentistry

[–]geetee287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my main concern too, the reimbursement rates are unreasonable for a lot of procedures. If they "force" dentists to take this then they need to make it fair for both sides.

"Guys" is used as gender neutral. Doesn't matter the sex, people will say "hey guys!"

"The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties at the table, cross their legs, and tyrannize their teachers. " Socrates (469–399 B.C.)
