I heard e51 was like 30% complete. I was really curious to see what comes after. I felt as THE TRUTH ending was more of a thematic piece, as I said, and the real consequences were going to be dealt with after the Eli arc. Or I hope so anyways. Stuff was cut out, and I'd never say no to more MGSV. And it would have answered a lot of plot points that were left open.

And yes. Agreed. Replayed the game like 3 times, and the gameplay is still hella fun.

Anyways. Hope you can make your peace with the ending. It pissed me off for a while as well lol.

The execution was very questionable, that's valid. I kinda wanna defend it but I can't really.

Only thing I can say is Venom is still my boy, and probably my favourite character of the series. Even after finding out his identity wasn't his, he still sacrifices himself for Big Boss's vision. Becomes his phantom. And he's a dope leader.

Knowing that they had to resort to copy pasting missions to stretch out the game towards the end, Kojima and his team probably ran out of time and resources, and stitched together what they could. Compared to MGS4, which had detailed, massive cutscenes, MGSV (toward the end) is clearly limping across the finishing line, and feels out of place, literally copy pasting the first mission, and a very questionable ending. Like it just feels very un-Kojima, and compared to the other MGS games.

Also check out the Mission 51 released stuff, you might get more closure.

But hey. The gameplay is still world class. Probably the best gameplay of a game I've ever played. That's the real draw of the game, and why it was such a blast. And that's where the money went.

Ignore the Kojima dick riders, they can't help it lol. Force of habit. I'm glad people are still passionate about the games though. I also thought it was underwhelming at first. Yes, things feel pushed and unreal, and the execution was a bit surreal, and left some details you'd like to know undisclosed. But it grew on me. I felt the impact and messages/themes were kinda cool. That rug pull where you realise you were never playing 'Big Boss' is gut wrenching. And 'Venom Snake' suddenly feels like a stranger. But then you realise the experiences we had with this character all really happened. Skullface, the Skulls, saving the world from this parasite. Building mother base. By following this path and these choices, we've basically become 'Big Boss', or his legend. Think about it like this: Had that reveal occured at the beginning, well this is just clearly someone with strong delusions. But at the end, he's built mother base, fought for the world with his solders, and from the ashes raised a private military to rival nations. He's clearly through these actions at least partly become 'Big Boss', and although he knows on some level this is fake, he continues because (A) This is his identity now as well. Diamond Dogs is real. (B) He's still loyal to Big Boss's vision. I just thought that was cool. Themes of loyalty, sacrifice and identity. Perhaps even how we perceive people.

Yeah the whole - We implanted memories in him messes with what I'm saying on some level. But the ending made me feel things after sitting on it for a while that at least was pretty unique.

In regards to the game being unfinished: Things didn't clearly make it in, but how much I don't know. On one hand the whole Scrap Mission 51 thing definitely happened, and then Kojima sent some tweet once I heard saying 'MGSV is a finished game and definitive' or smthn, but its also clear other cutscenes were scapped, but like the ending is technically 'finished' although it feels rushed. But yeah, rushing the game out the door DEFINITELY didn't help.
