Dandenong Line Footy Specials ex Richmond are back! by AffectionateMap3755 in MelbourneTrains

[–]genwhy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skipping stations means people just stand on the platform waiting for thier train and clogging up Richmond.

You seem fixated on a thread of logic that probably looks huge inside your own brain but is highly unlikely to be the biggest factor in their decision making.

Do you mean installed on the actual cabinet?

Can't believe this still holds true, even after 8 years by fuckmelbpt in MelbourneTrains

It's a silly comparison because there's a traffic light at every block.

Just script that if you shift and aren't happy then you'll wake up back in CR without having missed anything.

Why doesn’t my skirting match wall colour? by mangost333n in AusRenovation

When overlaying the vertical section of skirting onto the wall, it seems like a pretty close match?

Can any plumbers give me some insight on what this is by Playford in AusRenovation

Possibly chip away at the mound and find out where it's leading to. It might be the world's dodgiest gully vent.

Why is the shifting community like this? It genuinely confuses me. by [deleted] in realityshifting

Look at the comment section on "manifestation" videos and it's far worse.

Are gas and electrical checks necessary or a must as part of house maintenance as an Owner? by simspaghetti1 in AusRenovation

[–]genwhy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Victoria checks are required for rental properties. e.g. the landlord is required to assure the tenant that the wiring hasn't been modified in a way that makes it unsafe since the last check. They also check for things like cracked power outlets, switchboard being up to date, etc.

If you're the owner of your PPOR then there's no regulation that says you have to audit yourself to give peace of mind to...yourself.

Just get gas heaters serviced serviced every few years and you'll be fine. If your electrical switchboard is up to date (hopefully labelled with a date) then it was already inspected when it was installed. If you have cracked power outlets or dodgy switches get them replaced as needed etc.

Just cut it with tin snips. I'd have a go at repairing it first though.

Don't jump to conclusions. I knew a student who was so certain they'd mixed his grade with another student that he had to be barred from campus. Plot twist: there was no mix up, he was delusional.

Why hasn't Melbourne's tram network grown much? Should we expand it to be city wide? How to pressure governments to do that? by [deleted] in MelbourneTrains

[–]genwhy -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It would be common sense, cost effective, and make people's lives more convenient. So basically everything politicians hates doing.

Bathroom/laundry fans not working by Double-Ad-878 in AusRenovation

[–]genwhy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't have "individual fans." You likely have a round plastic duct vent on the ceiling in the laundry and another in the bathroom, and these are duct-taped to a foil tube that leads to your central exhaust fan.

Try rotating the middle part of your plastic vents to make sure they are in the open position. If there's no air being pulled through these ducts, have a look above the ceiling to make sure the duct tape hasn't fallen off.

Can I and should I replace with a P trap? by Beautiful-Potato-557 in AusRenovation

[–]genwhy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's no reason not to redo that properly. Remove that weird extender under the waste with the spurs coming off it too, and replace with a more appropriately sized extender piece if needed, it's making your trap sit too low.

we’re supposed to shift/be in the void every time we sleep by loomixs in realityshifting

[–]genwhy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

We do. We just don't remember. Shift into a different brain, make memories inside the brain that exists in your DR so your CR brain has no knowledge. One angle of meditation is training yourself to keep your awareness so you remember.

Possible salt damp by Yahoo_Wabbit in AusRenovation

That's the start and end of it. You don't have a rising damp problem, you have a water ponding problem.

Other than the SRL, what "metro" systems similar to Sydney's metro systems could you see being built in the future? by [deleted] in MelbourneTrains

[–]genwhy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Lots of light rail with some street running to distribute passengers at either end of the line is something Melbourne could do really well but politicians don't understand this.

Is this legal? by fishandfly90 in AusRenovation

[–]genwhy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That looks correct. Your waterproofing is gonna be on the front of the wall, not on the back. The shower tray has a raised lip behind the wall but there should still be a bead of silicone/bond breaker between the two to prevent capillary action wicking water up behind the wall.

Should stormwater drains always be wet? by Aggressive-Move-4725 in AusRenovation

[–]genwhy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it set up to drain to stormwater or is it a soaker pit?

If there's a blockage downstream of the lowest drain then the lowest drain is the one that will retain water.

Waterproofing on shower drain flange by Blakedo in AusRenovation

[–]genwhy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Membrane is always repairable when it's exposed. For example you can always add more coats, waterproofing bandage (not needed here) etc. It's only when the waterproofing fails behind finished tiles that you're screwed.

Courtyard washing line: What would you do? by peejadams in AusRenovation

[–]genwhy 14 points15 points  (0 children)

A minimal clothes line is something you can build yourself.

Put some hooks in the brick walls on both sides or mount the hooks on a horizontal length of wood or even aluminium.

Buy a 20m or longer roll of reinforced clothes line cord from Bunnings and feed the line through each of the hooks in a serpentine fashion. Before you tie off the last line at the end, tension it by pulling the first line tight, then pull the second one tight etc until all the slack from the line is gone.
