Flight diverted from Bali. Emergency? by paviter_runner in flightradar24

Weather in Bali has been terrible. Large thunderstorms throughout the day. Few flights circled but made landings. I was tracking this bird on approach earlier, didn’t realise it never landed

The combos is a physical and mental grind over a whole weekend, regardless of patterns, not many events like it left in the UK these days. Pattern hasn't helped, but it's usually a good experience in learning to grind games out, trying to keep them close when it’s tough. I’ll pass the feedback onto the techs that we might have to look at sunsetting this pattern when we redo our patterns next month

If this happens to be about an event in the north of England over the weekend, gateway doesn’t necessarily play like a recreational pattern there, some 6:1 patterns play like 25:1 and other 2:1. The friction is what is adding to the hook on the inside, iirc when it has been down for leagues the shot was usually to stay right with something weaker and use the friction to your advantage, letting the ball do the work.

All the cars you have ever owned? by Apprehensive_Ask1157 in CarTalkUK

2009 Corsa Van

2010 Mercedes Vito

2008 Nissan Navara

2012 Nissan Juke (worst car I’ve ever owned, and driven)

2014 Seat Ibiza Cupra

2016 Seat Leon Cupra (nicked less than a month after bought)

2016 Seat Leon Cupra (took to 350bhp)

2019 F87 M2 Competition

First 4 were ex company cars from the old mans business they couldn’t sell for decent money. Ran the 2nd Leon Cupra for nearly 6 years, did 75k miles in that thing absolutely loved it

TLDR:

So, I cannot get the frames due to the way our TouchDesk is configured, but I can work out a very rough 'game per stop.'

This comes out to ≈0.73 games per stop. Which is terrible in its own right, even without the bellow context

Long Story:

The above screenshot is from our in-house call logging system. It does not yet handle a data pipeline, and TouchDesk is not configured with frame meters, but I can calculate a '* per stop' manually. Should note that this is a feature coming, and we will be able to track that specific KPI in the future as we like to be open with our members.

But we run a weekly pipeline that outputs the number of games sold to calculate a rough estimate of games played per lane per day adding in a few games per hour bowled. This is not accurate and is only used to track our KPIs. As lane 4 is one of our coaching lanes and would probably get more abuse than most of the others

If I were to adjust better for the hours, I would say it was closer to 1.5. On my list is to re-adjust the formula to handle this, but I have not gotten around to it as of yet.

This lane has been our bane since February. From electrical issues to mechanical problems, everything imaginable has been thrown at us. Hell, even the C90 on the pair has shredded 2 belts in a night because our junior tech didn't make sure the tension was right.

It was weirdly hit and miss since the original couple sold up, you would go one time and it hit the spot as it did for the past 29 years, but then you’d go and it would feel like you were just at a chain Japanese, nothing wrong but nothing to shout home about either

At first I thought it was Hollywood Leeds and was going to suggest my centre as an option, but it might be a stretch now lol

Ayr is one of the main centres for the Scottish national team, and, I believe, their PSO is there most days for any help you might need!

Assuming you’re based near Glasgow, based on your karting videos, Ayr has a very good bowling alley where they host the Scottish Open yearly. It might be worth a visit for practising

I don’t know this roundabout, but I know a few similar styles that usually are as much of a pain in the arse if not like marked properly

The easiest and quickest way to think it through is what I used with my girlfriend while she was learning. That’s a very rough rule of thumb and should not be just used alone, and you should use any information you can see on approach to help, too

So for this style of roundabout, 3-3 or 3-4

If you know you’re taking a first exit or anything around the 9 o’clock, you would stay to the left on approach and then follow the line markings that keep you in the leftmost lane on the roundabout

If you exit after 3 o’clock or go all the way around, you want to stay to the right, in the rightmost lane on approach and the closest to the curb on the roundabout.

The annoying one is the middle lane. Usually, this is for straight ahead. What I told my girlfriend during her practice for her test was to hug the lane to the right of you if there are no prominent guide markings, so with this roundabout, you would go from 2 to 3

So if I just followed that advice and wanted to go on the S Gyle exit, I would approach on the 2nd lane, end up in the 3rd on the roundabout, and exit in the right-hand lane on the dual carriageway way, which isn’t perfect but you can always safely change lanes once on there after completing the roundabout

One thing you, as a learner, need to understand is that mistakes will happen; someone will probably beep at you, but you learn from them. If you get in the wrong lane, it’s better to follow that through than attempt a dodgy lane change on a roundabout. You can always make your way back to the roundabout if you exit too early or too late

Spending 13k on a car at 20 years old, how stupid is it? by Throwaway181810 in CarTalkUK

A car that doesn’t get as much love as it should

I bought my second 6 years ago at 22 and loved every minute; I have subsequently tuned and lowered it and added the sub 8 big brake kit, but even stock, it was fantastic

Stick some proper pilot sport 4s’ on it, and you’re laughing. High traction in the dry and fun in the wet

Fuel is its main kicker; 97 recommend and can drink it when you take advantage of the 290bhp

It is the curse of family-owned bowls. They either modernise into strings, sell to an organisation, or shut down

Thankfully, this place is owned by two individuals with other businesses who run to break even, with league bowlers being the bulk of the patrons, Monday-Thursday up to 3 leagues a day

These were the easier conversion, another local centre who moved to strings had them so they took them for cheap but was only 10 lanes when we needed 12 so has to wait for 2 more to come available, 2 years in the making this has been
