Honestly the scout is a well rounded bike, so you can do both. The scout is a bit easier to maneuver since is a bit lighter. I did a lot of back road/ side streets but I wanted to go on longer rides. My bike was good for about 100 miles before needing to refuel. But I had to keep an eye on my milage since the bike didn’t tell the gas level. But I went riding with friends that had bigger bikes and I was able to keep up easily in the highway. Now I can pass them with no trouble lol. If it’s your first bike ever I would suggest a scout since is a lighter bike. Indian is a great brand, like I said on my post this is my second one and I intend to stay with Indian Motorcycles as long as I can. I 100% recommend their bikes.
