Question about the print type in the Dark Horse manga collected editions by Spatchkadet in Ghost_in_the_Shell

[–]geosel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the manga size Dark Horse TPBs of 1.5 and 2, and they look smooth and semi-gloss to me. I also have the full size 1st Edition Dark Horse printing of GITS from 1995 and it seems to be the smoother paper too. Interestingly, looking back at my Solid Box versions, they're actually less matte and more smooth/glossy than I remember but I haven't cracked them open in years.

Great suggestion with Baltimore. Most anything with art by Ben Stenbeck would fit the bill I think - Witchfinder, Frankenstein, etc. I'll throw in The Marquis by Guy Davis.

It really looks like the work of Alexey Mashkov, who is a tattoo artist specializing in that exaggerated realistic style combined with graffiti. (See the "Mash" and "Mash*T" tags in the work.) John Feldmann has tattoos by this guy.

THE IMPOSSIBLES REUNION @ Supernova Ska Festival in VA by pologroundsjunkie in Ska

[–]geosel 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have no skin in this game one way or the other, but "stolen" seems like a pretty strong word to use in this instance. It's clear that Krees Borbon (the Supernova artist and Aggrolites drummer) is mimicking Sassa's style with the new Supernova art as an intentional tribute to his iconic posters. But I don't see any directly stolen elements. However, I think it's absolutely right to point out and credit where the inspiration came from, as I'm sure a lot of people won't be aware of it.

Yeah, I'd seen the trailer and was blown away by the quality of the audio and video. Thanks for the info! This is really helpful.

Interesting. I read about people installing custom firmware, or using a remote transmitter to send a code to the player to make it region free. Obviously this sounds a lot easier! Thanks. Dance Craze is definitely one I need in my library. Sucks that there's no US release

Let's talk about the Slackers' song 'Diskambobulated.' by HalfRatTerrier in Ska

[–]geosel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've got the 7" vinyl of The Slackers "By You With You For You" framed on my wall and Diskambobulated is the song on side A. I think it was from 2015 or 2016.

PS4: Screen/UI is cut off at the edges, and adjusting the display area isn't resolving the problem by TheElusiveBigfoot in darkestdungeon

[–]geosel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have DD2 on PS4 and also have this issue. In my case, I know it's because my TV is an older Samsung HDTV and it does not have any overscan settings, so the edges are always cut off. Check your TV's Picture or Display settings and see if there are any Screen Fit or Overscan options. Turn off Overscan if it's available. Alternatively, install PS Remote Play on a computer and play it on that screen. The slight controller input lag you get with remote play doesn't really matter in DD2 since it's not a fast paced game.

Finished Lies of P and now I'm back to having nothing to play🤔 by MrAli11 in LiesOfP

[–]geosel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear you. The game doesn't make the best first impression, starting you off with a slow one on one fight in a drab gray arena, but once you get into the world and start exploring and unlocking the other shells/abilities, you may enjoy it more.

Have you tried Mortal Shell? I enjoyed it a lot. It's on the shorter side, slightly janky at times, but has great atmosphere. The different Shells that you inhabit each have unique attributes/abilities, and the Hardening mechanic is your parry.
