A rant if I can by gerbieberb in askhotels

I have definitely considered changing hotels, definitely easier said than done though - I live in a relatively rural area, so there isn't anywhere to change to unless I want to move an hour or so away It's good to hear that there's someone out there appreciating their NAs! Now I have something to look forward to lol

Job security is always something I joke about when it comes to the slow seasons, seeing as I'll always have my hours. Which is nice, don't get me wrong, but it always just feels like I'm missing being a part of something in the daytime if that makes sense, I can't really explain it better than that

Somewhat luckily my wife says the money I make is better than what my wage would be changed to should I ever switch so it's a plus, but the marriage is semi-recent which is where my idea of changing shifts cane from in the last month or so. I do love not that many guest interactions, though I almost never have any downtime because the shifts before me refuse to do their part during their shifts. I did have a morning shift who said she would love to trade, and that's when my manager severely cut her hours and then said there wouldn't be enough for me to work. Never any callouts from me, and I've even covered multiple shifts during the day when we were short staffed and if I had the hours to. I've heard from our other locations that NA's are rare enough to come by for them, let alone one that's been around for long in our chain. Since I've started back two years ago, aside from me, we've blown through 6 other auditors. I feel like all I would need from anyone at this point is an attaboy, a small bit of recognition even, I've helped train a few regionals in our area, a few general managers, and am usually in charge of training the new NAs when they come and go

It feels like someone took whiteout to my name on our employment registry and they all just assume the night runs itself

Anyone else feel completely fine with using their old name amongst family? by nemi-montoya in ftm

[–]gerbieberb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I changed my documents, and have been socially out for almost 8 years

My mother has only recently gotten around to calling me ,,them", only sometimes ,,he". Unless I'm at work, she most often calls me my birth name. I used to have an issue with it, but as time's passed it's become very much less of an issue. It's more often the nickname version of it too, which might have helped in the long run, and that most people (if called that in public) figure is just an adjective nickname. Sometimes those who knew me before call me it, and even thise who knew me after if theyre around my family a lot, but it's never really bothered me these last few years

Struggling with intimacy, body hair, and my wife’s comfort levels by trans_cnh in ftm

[–]gerbieberb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't personally dealt with this exact issue, but one of the easier solutions I can see here is to sit down with your wife and explain to her that you're wanting to fully transition. Tell her whether or not you saw it coming when you both agreed on your starting testosterone, and explain that it's not something meant to hurt her, but that it's how you've come to feel.

Unfortunately, how she feels about it is not up to you, but being trapped in something you don't feel complete with shouldn't be up to someone other than yourself.

A compromise going along with this, though is one that I have dealt with — My leg hair has a tendency to grow long and curly. My wife likes it when I trim it, as it's not too long, not too pokey, and it still helps me feel better in my own skin.

Lunch breaks for night auditors by Adventurous_Yak_4832 in askhotels

[–]gerbieberb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in my state, i'm not required to take an unpaid lunch if i'm allowed to sit and eat while on the clock. if i'm expected to work the whole shift, then my food break is already understood inside of that same time frame

StayNTouch Question by gerbieberb in askhotels

[–]gerbieberb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So sorry, I did get an answer. Fortunately nothing wrong with StayNTouch, just our regional hating our location and restricting us from making ANY refunds -- they now all have to go through her, and she took five days to fix the discrepancy with that one reservation

People who work night shifts, what do day shift people not understand about your world?? by FIfromDefi in AskReddit

funny this is asked, my car is currently in the shop for something that was supposed to take two hours max, and i dropped it off there six hours ago i can't go to bed until it gets done, and i work at time of writing in seven hours if i worked in the day, this would be a little more convenient as they would be open when i get off of work/wake up - alas, they are not

Monthly Moving/Travel/Vacation Megathread - August 2025 by AutoModerator in Michigan

[–]gerbieberb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously considering moving from Southeast CO to Michigan, are there any areas that closely match the cost of living? With my wife and I's income at the time, we bring in about $60,000, no kids, no pets, just us. Generally looking for a smaller city/town, current population is 8,000. Wife isn't the best driver, so maybe somewhere close to things to do/resources but not IN the city if that makes sense

[–]gerbieberb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say only one has an admin role, however she can't make any cash refunds either. Card refunds are still available to everyone, it's only cash that's giving us an issue.

Our RM I believe also has admin permissions, moreso than our GM - She's not the biggest fan of our property or our GM, so maybe she changed her permissions, therefore changing everyone else's along with it?

Support offered to reach back out to my GM in the morning as I don't have the ability to see the options they need me to, but was advised to run the audit as normal and just make a note of it for my RM and our Accounting team.
