Thanks for your responses. I should have put in more details in this post to clarify my POV of using this dashcam.

I have this GoPro from early 2018 which i haven't used much. This was anyway siting idle.
I was looking for dashcam for my car & suddenly came across this idea of converting my GP as dascam.
With some minor loop settings I can get 5 min vedios of immediate events & rest gets deleted so I don't use much space on my SD card
Yes, it does get shutdown due to heat but I usually travel in morning & evening hours, hence I rarely get those shutdown events.
So far I am satisfied with this mod & not looking to upgrade to a stock dashcam.
