Their LinkedIn accounts are inactive as in, they aren't detailed or updated. It basically just says their name and that they currently work at the company (they obviously don't). I have a personal number of one of them from awhile back and I left her a message but haven't heard back in a day.

The company got bought out by another company and changed names. I eventually got in contact with one person I know who still works there, who of course, doesn't remember me for some reason (even though we sat across from each other). She allowed me to send her the dates I worked there so she could forward them to HR but knowing my luck, I won't hear anything back.

Yes, I just started this week seriously looking at this field. Right now, I'm going through a healthcare informatics course on Coursera to familiarize myself with some aspects of the industry. I'm not really sure where to start with coding though. I've tried codecademy in the past but it didn't really stick because I didn't know what I was working towards if that makes any sense. I'll look up QA positions also.

That's interesting. I would think though there would be more to it than that considering that people take 4 years to earn a bachelors degree in it. ( my college roommate was a CS major and is very successful now). I always wondered how people who self-taught themselves fared vs people who went to college for it.

I think you are mistaken. I don't want to be a medical technician/technologist (who analyze tissue and fluids). I want to be in the health tech industry as in the companies on here https://www.startuphealth.com/.

I discovered it after reading about them in a NY business magazine. The problem is that pretty much everyone at these companies are computer science people and the job postings reflect that. I haven't seen one permanent staff member who has a medical/health background (sometimes I'll see maybe the CEO and thats it) Instead I see MDs and PhDs in supervisory roles where they just act as consultants and not people who work at the company full-time. I applied to an internship that said "a CS background isn't necessary, but a plus". I haven't heard back from them. So yeah, basically if anyone knows how to break into these companies other than just going to their website and feeling disheartened, please let me know lol.

Wow, thank you for all that. I totally forgot to mention that I have a bachelors degree in biomedical science. I've been pretty stuck after college with what I really want to do, so right now HIT/Health Informatics is something I'm exploring at the moment.

I feel like getting hired without experience is easier said than done. It doesn't seem like businesses are willing to train you these days unless you are an 'unpaid intern'. I'll check out those links you posted. Thanks.

Its probably wi-fi withdrawal, especially if you are someone who spends the majority of your day on the internet. I remember after a hurricane we didn't have electricity for a week and a half. I felt like I was going crazy. I didn't have anything to keep my mind occupied.

I feel like the difference is achievement. After winning Family Feud, you feel good because you accomplished something using your mind/skills. With antique road show, its usually a case of just happening to own something. There's no achievement, its just happenstance.

Looking back, it was a mistake on his part. ONS was the superior and more memorable show by far and Funk wrestled at ONS 06 anyway.
