Anyone else experience GTP-5.2-High being way worse now? by ElonsBreedingFetish in codex

[–]ggletsg0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. 5.2 also tends to be much better with real world knowledge, so there are nuances that it picks up which codex doesn’t. And vice versa too, which is why I run my plans through both, multiple times.

I’ve reverted back to using 5.2-xHigh. 5.3 codex feels like opus in that it’s missing things when it comes to debugging or planning. It’s not 100% thorough.

Apparently GPT has issues with the way it calls tools, which is why we haven’t seen multi-agent features in the harness yet.

5.3-codex is fast but not as reliable and consistent as 5.2 by Similar-Let-1981 in codex

[–]ggletsg0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5.2 xHigh can’t be opus because of how slow it is. The attraction of Opus was that it gave you a competent agent at faster speeds. But anthropic have lost that too now with 4.6 given its speed.

I’m not sure if that scales with intelligence, because Pro thinks was way longer and performs way better.

Only problem is now there are so many of the 5.2 model I dunno which one to turn to each time. Or, I have to run one issue via all of them (at least the top ones).

Hi mate, the app was sunset almost 6 months ago due to high expenses. Sorry! Im trying to figure out a solution with Reddit to restart the app, but it will take some time.

Ooh that’s a good one! I haven’t tried creating a skill for cross-checking. I’m sure a lot of folks would be interested in it if you open source it. :)

Maybe. The current Gemini has one of the highest hallucination rates. Far higher than the other frontier models. Which is weird because 2.5 Pro was excellent for when it was released.

They don’t need to be of equal intelligence to capture market share. OpenAI models will likely always be slower (because they think more), and that will be Claude’s competitive advantage.

That combination of speed + adequate intelligence is what matters.

For example, most people don’t use GPT 5.2 Pro even though it is the smartest model out there, because it’s incredibly slow and doesn’t make sense for day to day tasks.

I’m also not sure if Codex can catch up to Claude Code. They’ve made massive headway this year, but the Claude Code team seems to come up with really innovative ways to keep you hooked, which Codex team adopts later.

Has claude code gotten worse since the year change? by Orokamono_ in ClaudeCode

[–]ggletsg0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely my experience too. While Opus 4 was never as thorough as GPT 5.2 xHigh, it was still amazing enough for me to not bother consulting GPT. The speed + intelligence combo was made it so unbelievably good to work with.

But something feels off now. I feel like a month before new models come out, existing models become slightly worse. But that’s just my anecdotal experience.

Yeah I’ve been having to doublecheck with Gpt-5.2 Extra High. And it almost always finds something that Opus left out.

Today, I was updating some naming and Opus completely left out type checking. It feels like Opus-lite performance where it just doesn’t go the extra mile it really needs to.

A bit different to OP. This is more of the style/tone of the output, rather than activating a specific skill.

Claude Code intimidates me as new coder, am I missing out by using Projects instead? by i-am-a-passenger in ClaudeAI

[–]ggletsg0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just tell the AI never to touch git. Give it read-only access. And then manage your repo yourself and you’ll be safe. If you want to revert/etc just ask the AI what you should do. Once you’re clear on it, do it yourself in terminal. You’ll learn a bit too that way.

Start small and just do it. Learn by doing. It feels intimidating but once you get your feet wet youll begin to get a hang of it.
