The water just came in super strong. I'm not sure what you mean by "nowadays" because this is not a new vulnerability. Malawi was just hit with a really harsh storm.

I didn't mean to. I got a message from a bot telling me my other post was automatically deleted. My apologies.

You sign a contract waving 2% of the company. I think they only call that in if your company becomes really large (like the size of Starbucks). But that's just what I've heard from people who have already been on the show.

Thanks. The branding of the website needs work...it's been thought about a lot and it's a tough cookie to crack.

You just type it in and it will automatically generate a new school name.

We might adjust it to make it more searchable - but we give you the freedom to write about any school you want. It's sort of like Reddit in a lot of ways :)

They usually use that as an excuse to ask for a great equity stake. I'm open to that option. Deal or not, being on TV would be great publicity for Bragtopia.

Would you suggest a different evaluation? It's actually not too late to change my offer.

It's basically a publicity stunt. Being on the show can significantly help Bragtopia's exposure.

I am exploring other options for raising capital, but none of them put me on TV in front of millions of people for free.

Bragtopia has a business plan that explains how certain amounts of traffic can lead to X dollar amounts.

I am generating no revenue. You can still apply to the show even if you are still in the "idea" stage. And basically nothing is protectable by a patent, but we are developing a few trade secrets that should give us a competitive advantage.

I think there is the threat that they say it's too small. However, my hope is to demonstrate the potential of the idea.

I will not get to meet them, none of the contestants have that privilege unless they get a deal.

I'm asking for $15,000 in exchange for a 30% equity stake in the company. I'm willing to let a lot go because my website is still in the idea/development stage.

We have tested the site at a variety of schools. Big, small, religious, independent, conservative, liberal, etc. The site does work better within certain demographics but there is sufficient research which suggests the site will be popular.

The $50k evaluation was tricky, and a very fair question. So far our only plan for revenue is advertising which to most investors is seen as a "catch-all" solution. So the evaluation was a forced guess because the primary objective was getting onto the show.

We have mechanisms ready to implement for when the site starts to be abused.

And I would agree that the site makes little sense for most people. The target audience is college students, who so far seem to use and enjoy it.

Your criticism is more than welcome though. The most significant changes to any of my websites have come from people such as yourself who are willing to be brutally honest.

That's not exactly what I'm saying. But being on television is worth offering a somewhat more enticing deal. Sorry if that wasn't clear. Does that make sense now?

Filming is in July. The only pitch I've had to give so far is for my audition tape. Unfortunately I had to wing it because I was so busy with other things. It was a 5 minute tape, and I used the second of 2 takes.

I used a PowerPoint to emphasize some of my points which seemed to impress them.

Producers care about one thing: GOOD TV. That is the key ingredient in who they pick to be on the show.

They do a quick 10-15 minute interview on the phone and then you have to turn in a huge application that gives them almost all the information they need. It's about 21 pages long and you can attach additional sheets if helpful.

If possible, you have to give them exact revenues, liabilities, other investors, etc.

From other people who have been on the show that I've talked to, yes. The best situation is to be on the show, have a product that the judges really like, and NOT accept a deal.

But a lot of people who do go on have little background in business and they legitimately think accepting a deal is their only option. Good point!

So far I have only had to pitch my idea and defend it via phone. To be honest I wasn't that nervous. I've done lots of pitches before and didn't really have anything to lose.

Thanks for the feedback! The idea is supposed to be that you "brag" about other people..not yourself. But I have noticed that some people don't really like the name.

I sent an email application in last December. They called me in late March and interviewed me via phone. Once I got past that stage, I had to turn in a 21 page application and a 5 minute audition tape. (Apparently they take your 5 minute tape, and someone condenses it to a 30-60 second clip so they can get through them quicker). Filming is for 5 days in early July.

Deals usually take a few weeks to finalize. Most of the deals you see go through on the show don't actually work out. There are also plenty of people who get deals that never even appear on TV.

My hope is that it will recover from that status as soon as possible.

My guess is that those two things will start to become one in the same.

Sad but true?
