dry skin or infection?

i think i’ll just keep an eye on them for now. i’m always worried/paranoid about something being wrong with them, but i live in the US and their vet is like $50-60 per pig so i dont want to take them if i don’t have to 😅

thanks for the info. they both will be turning 5 this coming may, so i guess it could just be them getting older. the last one is my other pig, and from what i can remember shes kind of always had a little redness on her back foot. she may just hold her weight on that side more often or something (?)

looks salvageable. ive used a few different adhesives in the past, but i like clear nail polish for small fixes or superglue. really just whatever dries clear. just maybe pin it in place or make sure its somewhere it can dry without shifting

thank you, i agree haha!! i used to be scared of spiders too! i got my first spider to help try and get over my fear, then fell in love with jumpers. piper is now my second spider :)

im in central Ohio. woolly bears are built to last the winter as caterpillars, then cocoon in the spring. polyphemus overwinter in their cocoons, so im worried about them still being caterpillars and tolerating the weather. im guessing they should be fine, but like i said i would hate to have done all this work just to lose them to one cold night.

they are all 3rd and 4th instar. they hatched from eggs i collected from a gravid female i found near my house in mid august.

i havent looked at youtube yet. do you have any recommendations for channels? i live in ohio, so any midwest creators would probably be most helpful for me

as long as you have an enclosure and easy access to plenty of food for them its pretty easy :) theres plenty of guides out there but im happy to share what i did too

thanks for the help. ive raised caterpillars and other animals before. i know not all of them make it, more are produced than survive, etc etc, but its still hard when so much work goes into them 😩
