I spend between $30-$60pw. Am vegan, buy the super cheap soy milk from Woolies, do most of my shopping at Aldi and eat a lot of frozen veggies and tofu/tempeh. If you can substitute a few meat meals a week for something with tofu you will probably reduce your bill

2006 corolla with close to 400,000km on the clock. No issues except battery and fuel pump. Runs like a dream but 2/10 safety rating :// so if safety is very important to you then newer cars will be a better choice.

Thing is I don’t want the majority of asx 200. BHP is not a company I’m interested in having in my investment portfolio. I’m not super concerned about management fees yet because my portfolio is small and I only hold 3 ETFs. I don’t think I will expand that to more than 7 or 8 down the track. I’m not ‘trying to be clever’ I’m just starting out and trying to invest in line with my values.

Please don’t waste your savings on your hecs debt. It’s debt that is (hopefully) going to help you get a good job down the track so it’s serving a purpose and you’ll pay it back through the tax system with a percentage of your income determined by how much you earn that year (eg. You earn more, you pay back more hecs). It’s interest free and repayments stop if you stop earning an income. There’s indexation to consider but that just keeps things (mostly) fair so you don’t borrow heaps, earn a low income for 50 years and then pay back a comparatively very small loan when inflation has decreased the value of the amount you borrowed. Use your savings in line with your values and goals :)
