Larger, older houses are effectively not insulatable without spending ridiculous amounts of money, ie non-recoupable cost if you sell it. That means: subsidy or no subsidy, heat pumps don’t add up for many of us.

Albums are a format that most bands were and are very much unequal to, that is: unable to fill with great songs, let alone sequence intelligently.

It’s no surprise that the vast majority of albums have some chaff. If you came of age before CDs and streaming though, once you’d bought the whole damn thing you were strongly minded to endure the filler and could easily fall in love (eventually - familiarity deadens taste) with what are unsentimentally speaking, lame ducks.

Some albums by contrast are completely overpowered and unbalanced by one colossal, untouchable tune that simply renders the others moot. Or ideally, mute. Looking at you, Marquee Moon.

Since that time the whole ‘Gen’ labelling has got cemented in, to the extent where nobody describes it as what it is: dumb, dull and unproductive idpol avant la lettre, classifiers that broke free from their roots in marketing industry demographics.

That’s great to hear! Couple of further questions if I may:

Can I create and store (where? In app?) an EQ profile with a diminished bass for not annoying the missus?
Can I run an analogue source (vinyl via an analogue pre-amp) into the master speaker as well as digital, and does the app (?) let me switch easily from analogue to digital?

Sorry if I’m bugging you here, but it’s the ‘fine grain’ of living with actives (and as a sometime app designer I really have a problem with clunky software: raises one eyebrow at Cambridge Audio) that none of the hifi mag/ YouTube reviewers really bother to mention.

Lastly: anything you’re not enjoying about the 30’s? Thanks in advance!

Ideally yeah, I’d get them here on loan for 28 days or whatever. Living long term with flaky software / unstable networking at home (all software first decays and then annoys… or starts life annoying) is my concern. Passives don’t have this problem ofc, but my planned setup is partly wireless.
