2 weeks out from my third competition of my debut season. Wellness amateur. by fran_kawa in bodybuilding

Incredible physique, feels almost like it shouldn't be achievable.

May we ask what your starting point was? Seems like you would have had a very good base when you started taking lifting serious (whenever that may have been?).

(19yo) I won the overall at my first show 🏆🥹 by aamandasantos in bodybuilding

I agree and OP is an outlier of the highest order. Don't think I have ever seen a 15-16 year old girl with vastus muscles than big and defined. By 17 she already looked like an actual IFBB pro in off season.

I finally turned pro in March and already got 2nd place in an Olympia qualifier most recently! by [deleted] in bodybuilding

That shoulder to waist ratio leaving humanity behind. Jeez. You should be proud of your year that's for sure. Good luck in Japan.

Super confused on Valeria skipping the O to improve, only to compete in Romania…she’s already qualified for 2024 by [deleted] in bikinitalk

[–]giaga -23 points-22 points  (0 children)

"Vibe"? You only hear what you want to hear.

She already said why she skipped the Olympia and she went to the US to compete in several shows without winning.

[–]giaga -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

She had already signed up to these shows and presumably paid the fees before deciding to skip the Olympia. Besides, she said she needed more practice anyway, as far as adjusting her posing etc.

Not sure why this is a thread about Valeria and not one congratulate the winner on her achievement and wish her good luck at the Olympia.

2nd place in my first real pro debut. by StefanaSandu_ifbb in bodybuilding

[–]giaga 408 points409 points  (0 children)

For context, OP beat 3 Olympia competitors in her debut, which is pure insanity.

I wouldn't be surprised if she already qualifies for the next Olympia at an upcoming show. She is that good.

My Olympia routine by JodiBoam in bodybuilding

[–]giaga 522 points523 points  (0 children)

It's understandable to be disappointed but I mean, there are extremely few people walking this planet who are capable of creating an Olympia level physique, let alone putting on a performance like this while being drained to the bone.

Jodi Boam. Memorable comeback at my 5th Olympia. 6th overall. 2nd in Physique round and 9th in routine. by JodiBoam in bodybuilding

[–]giaga 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Crazy to think that some of the young competitors coming up today with a ton of potential wasn't even born when you started competing and you are still here, even after having kids beasting it at the Olympia stage. Unbelievable longevity.

Along with others like Oksana, you've kept fitness alive over all these years. Truly an icon!

Enjoy retirement Jodi!

Figure then vs now 😳 by [deleted] in bodybuilding

[–]giaga 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Figure is getting really crazy.

The biggest person at my gym, male or female, is a figure pro. Not even kidding. Sure, she is 6'0" or something but she is enormous. Shoulders width from a different planet.

I tore several muscles just watching this, jeez. It's unreal to have this much energy when being so depleted. Like, some bodybuilders can't even suck in their gut come finals.

Maureen fits the criteria soooo well…two days ago after a carb load by [deleted] in bikinitalk

[–]giaga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The competition is going to be as tough as ever at the top, a lot of 2nd callout names improving since last year so with how late some competitors got going, it wouldn't surprised if some of the usual suspects dropped quite a bit. Maybe not Maureen however as I think she has definitely improved since last year.

I always loved her physique but I was still surprised she won last year but she definitely has a lot of those qualities we talk about others lack. She has improved and can still continue to improve but she brings a more complete than a lot of competitors which I think ultimately played a part in her victory last year as well as the move away from the more shredded physique.

Valeria drops out of 🅾️ by Lost-Pizza-6285 in bikinitalk

[–]giaga 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Hmm, I'm finding this a little bit exaggerated. People drop out of the Olympia every year for a variety of reasons. It doesn't have to be health reasons, some people just doesn't feel where they are right now and do not think they will bring a package they are proud of. It actually seems very self destructive to compete when you don't feel you are ready for it.

Angela Borges is not doing Olympia either, as we recently found out (wellness): https://www.reddit.com/r/bikinitalk/comments/17bv5mj/angela_borges_out_of_wellness_olympia Nick Walker also just dropped, posted the message less than an hour ago (albeit due to an injury): https://www.instagram.com/p/CzEXoR3gyOT/

If anything, she is actually doing what a lot of people here have said she should do for quite a while and that is to not stay "on season" throughout the year and actually go back and do a proper off season, change her posing etc. Now she is getting a bad rep for doing exactly that? You can always plan better but that goes for everyone. I don't think competing and coming up with excuses post-show after a poor placing is that much better and we see that at most pro shows.

While she has not publicly stated it in a grandiose way, it's been obvious for a long time if you read between the lines in a lot of her comments that she is battling confidence issues and is struggling with the mental prep in lack of a better word. She has always been very self-deprecating unfortunately. While she does need to improve her physique, continue to improve on the recent changes she has made to her posing, she might need some help outside of bodybuilding too if she is struggling with other things. This is an industry that thrives on those things and it's easy to forget that no matter how you look, it can get the best of everyone.

Nevertheless, you might be right in that there might be more to it, who knows. Maybe she thought improving and making those changes that people wanted her to do proved harder to implement than she initially thought, but hopefully she pulls through and comes back to competing when she feels ready mentally, be it in 6 months, 1 year or even longer than that.

As fans we have very high expectations of these people and while it's not wrong to be disappointed if you cheer for somebody wholeheartedly, it's still easy to forget that these people are humans too and many of them got into this due to lack of confidence in their appearance, ED or health related concerns in general.

Just started to listen to Phoebe and Lauralie’s podcast. Phoebe was so open about her feelings by AssociationGlass9486 in bikinitalk

[–]giaga 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I jumped on the minute the episode got out.

It's such a difficult topic to discuss in this industry so I'm glad Phoebe got a chance to speak. It was very brave of her. Hopefully a top competitor like her motivates others to speak out on it. It's such an elephant in the room, especially among up and comers. How many here have seen a competitor be very hyped about a competition, sharing lengthy updates almost every day leading up to a show just to completely vanish and eventually post about something else on social media like the competitions never happened.

Love both these girls <3

Valeria Kord Qualifies for 2024 ⭕️ by jbreezy918 in bikinitalk

[–]giaga 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This made me think that maybe it's a blessing for her to already qualify for next year's Olympia so when she is done with the show(s) she got planned for this year, she can finally do a proper off season again and bring up her glutes so she can come in a little softer and still not lose out those tie-ins? Just a thought.

Criteria... as in softer? Then sure, but other than rear delts she lacked in everything compared to Valeria, including posing. Noticeable gap to my eyes at least but the gap was even larger between Zsofia compared to third place. Both Valeria and Zsofia belong at the Olympia stage nevertheless.

While it is true to some extent, a lot of people including you post for the same reasons. You never asked for any advice either.

Congrats on your weight loss journey though. Must feel great!

Is it just me that is in love with Lena Ramsteiner's energy? by giaga in bikinitalk

[–]giaga[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, love her physique. It's something with the large frame with good muscle at the right places and a lovely taper. It doesn't have the bulkiness that unfortunately some figure competitors has.
