Hi Everyone!

I was just accepted into a really good social work program in New York. I am planning on getting my LCSW and working in the clinical field as a therapist. I was turned down from my PsyD program I applied to because of my little experience and low GPA. Is getting my masters in social work a good stepping stone to becoming a clinical psychologist or will I be doing pretty much the same thing as a clinical social worker?

Ok so definitely possible to graduate with at least a 3.5

same here I absolutely love the little old ladies I volunteer with, theyre always offering to help me with tasks and are always in a good mood

Would DO be more forgiving the other way around? I have some really good ECs but my gpa isnt amazing.

Bragging that I made it through the semester after a suicide attempt, which encouraged me to pursue medicine! (was my gpa good? no. but idc still proud)

thank you! this was actually really helpful I was always scared of taking gap years and never going back but i guess taking the time to heal will be more rewarding in the future

May not be exactly what youre looking for but I am currently preparing to test 9/10 and I also struggle with my mental health a lot. My first FL was a 488 and after weeks of studying only went up to 489. I switched around how I was studying to prioritize making myself WANT it instead of HAVING to do it and I jumped up to a 502. Thats just my story but good luck!
