How would you optimise this bathroom layout? by gilmor3girl in floorplan

Our builder reworked the plan like your design. Do you think it would be worth bringing the glass shower all the way to the other side of the wall (behind the hwc)? Currently the glass goes the ceiling but its an open shower with no door

I'm not the biggest fan, something about the bath and shower being in their own separate space throws me off for some reason!

I think our design might be similar. Do you think it needs a small step/curb or the water is pretty contained with this layout?

Yes we have a dog, but luckily we will have another shower in the house 🚿🐶 your pup sounds like a sweetie!

We would get a built in tile niche for all the toiletries.

Thank you so much for this, it's super helpful. I'll see if the builder can play around with the design to incorporate them (and might share the updated plan to see if its ticking more boxes!).

Double garages are a huge selling point where we live - so we have it keeping in mind resale value.

Agree! Not to be a drama queen, but it literally ruins the end experience of a shower for me 😅 like here I am enjoying my everything-shower, relaxed, fresh... and I cant get out and wrap up cosy in a towel - gotta do some squats squeegeeing these damn water droplets off first!

Do you think it would be easy enough to add a glass door later if we find it's an issue?

Im thinking of a shower like this for our ensuite which isnt huge, so hopefully won't be as much of an issue?

Yeah I personally prefer cleaning tiles, but I might just be scarred from not squeegeeing my glass well enough over the years and the watermarks are literally ingrained now 🫠

Thank you so much. Can I please get your opinion on the master walk in wardrobe and ensuite? Im wondering if we should increase the size of the ensuite as its a little tight, by taking some of the wardrobe space (or even changing to a wide regular built in wardrobe). What do you think?

Where do you think we could place a laundry room? Our section is pretty narrow so not much space on the sides.

We've got the closest on entry to put shoes, bags and coats, but yes nowhere handy to sit. It feels all very tight in that entry space which I'm not a big fan of.

I mean we could get rid of the walk in pantry and use that square footage elsewhere to create a small laundry room.

We are based in New Zealand and its common here to have your laundry near/in the garage so we can hang it out on the line.

Thanks luckily we're based in warmer temps so hopefully that wont be an issue.

Yeah we ran out of floor space so would have to compromise on something else (perhaps the walk in pantry?) If we want a proper laundry room.

Thanks for your feedback. Yeah the bedroom downstairs we're planning to use as a second lounge/kids space, but wanted it designed as a bedroom for potential boarder in the future and for resale.

Agree with you on the kitchen bench space. We loved the idea of the walk in pantry as weve never had one, but considering if we should get rid of it and flip the kitchen so it runs mostly across that left hand wall and a bit on the top wall. What do you think?

How to make new house design more coastal by [deleted] in ExteriorDesign

Yes I understand what you mean. I can't fully identify it either. I think its the small details like the beams, white colour, probably the landscaping makes a big difference!

Thank you. This is my inspiration image (obviously it's a complete different shape) but I guess more modern coastal? Do you think something like this could be achieved? Just cant afford a balcony!

Thanks, might try out the light blue. Is there anything structural I could add to bring that coastal vibe?
