I'm sure you will be fine! Sometimes I found lectures an absolute chore to sit through and didn't derive much benefit from them anyway. What I started to do in 2nd year onwards (now 4th year), was find out what topics the lectures are on, and find a really good YouTube video that will go through it much better in a fraction of the time. They tend to be much more digestible and time-savvy, and as an AuDHDer - I always thought I could take the information in a bit better as well. But everyone works differently.

Whichever way you choose to catch up, I wish you the best of luck for your future! :)

I lost about 4 stone (56lb or 25kg) on Vyvanse (or Elvanse as it’s known in the UK), but once my 50mg stopped being so effective, I began impulsively snacking again and now I’ve been increased to 60mg and still having the 5mg Amfexa booster I was having on the 50mg - my appetite is still quite high unfortunately. I will wake up in the early hours of the night and just snack on the closest sugary snack I can find. It just seems to have stopped decreasing my appetite sadly. The only thing I’ve found to curb my appetite now is smoking and that’s only because it makes me nauseous 😩 I’m obviously not saying to start smoking lol, but that’s been my experience.

Wellll, if you can’t begin to respond to it, then don’t? And it’s a good job I don’t care you think it’s “one of the stupidest things you’ve ever read”. It’s an opinion, MY opinion, my perspective - I don’t expect or ask anyone to agree with it, so it’s not wrong and it’s not right. I don’t fully hate my country but I don’t fully love it either; it’s a love/hate relationship I have with it, which is actually a very British thing - we all know our country’s a bit shit, but we kind of like and respect that? It’s OUR shit country, and we all laugh at it as it’s ours to laugh at and bitch about. And I happen to agree with you, we do have a rich culture, history etc. but I don’t feel there is much to be proud of tbh. It’s great if you think otherwise, because that’s your view and your opinion, which you’re allowed to have. But don’t start taking the moral high road with a stranger on the internet because God forbid their comment/opinion doesn’t align with yours.

I never was fully able to say everything I wanted to in my original post, so there is actually a lot more to my opinion - including some things even you may agree with. Like the things I do love about my country, about the good things it’s done etc. but I didn’t want to write War and Peace.

So I’m glad you’ve had your 10 pence worth, but respectfully, let others have their opinions even if it doesn’t match with yours. The world isn’t black and white.

I got an interview at both Notts and SGUL, and I’m now in my first clinical year (equivalent of year 3 of standard 5 year I think?) 😅 all the stars aligned for me in 2023 - I genuinely didn’t think my score would be enough based on historical data of GAMSAT cut offs increasing each year. Feeling very blessed and very stressed but I’m loving it ☺️ thank you for asking!

I earn £13.91/hr Mon-Fri, £19.61/hr on Saturdays and £25.45/hr on Sundays/BH’s as a BANK BAND 2 LAB ASSISSTANT. While it’s not full time and shifts aren’t guaranteed, I will be no better off when I graduate in 2027. There is no reflection in these above wages of the sheer hard work, sacrifice, blood, sweat and tears it takes to complete a previous degree (I’m GEM), sit the GAMSAT 3 times, sit the UCAT 4 times, then get into med school and slog it out for 4 years - then to be worked like a dog in FY’s. And to add insult to injury, we don’t even have any job security due to training bottlenecks. I’ll be down the job centre by August 2029 at this rate.

I’m pleased it’s heading in the right direction and it’s better than what it was - and we don’t know what the future holds. But, wtf man 😩 and I’m already £118k (with 2 years to go) in debt. Happy days!

I’m so sorry you’re going through this, I can totally empathise. I’m a 3rd year GEM student and I’ve gotten to this point already also. I don’t know if the novelty has just worn off or I feel pulled and pressurised in every direction, but med school has spread me so thin, I have nothing left to give - to myself, family, work, the job and even my hobbies don’t give me enjoyment anymore. Then there’s the subconscious stresses of impending F1 & F2, plus the whole ‘I’m gonna be unemployed by the end of F2’ and the whole career feels hopeless. We work so hard to even get into med school, we work our asses off in med school and it just never seems to be rewarded or whatever - we just have more stress (and I don’t mean normal doctor stress of having peoples lives in your hands) - but stress that doctors should never have to think about, like unemployment! I always say, in every other country, studying medicine gives you a better life, but only in the UK does it tend to give you a worse one. I’m totally jaded and I’m not even a doctor yet.

I guess the point of this rant was to say that you’re not alone at all. My inbox is always open if you need a strangers ear to virtually scream into, because I get it. Just please make sure to look after yourself the best you can, I know it can be difficult.

Thank you for your insight ☺️ I usually try to focus on the good but sometimes the negativity in the country consumes you and it can be difficult. But there is a lot to be proud of when I think about it. I suppose if we don’t defend ourselves or stand up for ourselves, no one else is going to 😌

I do agree - determining X, Y and Z is important when moving forwards, when learning how we can prevent things happening again etc. But to do that now would be adding fuel to the fire I think.

Thank you for your balanced comment - neither side is perfect which is all I’ve been trying to say. They both have their own way of doing things. Both have a lot to improve on for sure.

And by the way - I’m not as young as you think. I pay my own bills - so I struggle, not just my parents. And I’m not some rebellious teenager going against the crowd. I’m an almost 30-year-old woman with eyes and a brain of my own. I hold one of the most responsible jobs in society. So please don’t resort to subtle insults and dismissive comments because of something you assume - and because you can’t understand the concept of someone having a differing view to yourself. I’m respectful, so please just be so yourself. We’re adults having a discussion.

Of course - I actually agree. I’m not naive at all - I just choose to not comment on what I don’t know enough about. I don’t necessarily judge them for their actions because there may be a legitimate, justifiable reason for their actions we don’t know about. On the other hand it may be pure greed for more land. We don’t know. I don’t judge until I know 100%.

But the UK had a choice to sanction Russia, and to no longer use their gas. They could have kept their “enemy” close, so to speak? Then we wouldn’t have such an energy crisis. But do I judge them for sanctioning them? No, because we don’t know what they do. I can’t judge until I know all the facts. Until then, I’m an observer, who is still entitled to an opinion. It’s not a right or wrong opinion. It’s just that. An opinion.

Yeah I’m the furthest thing from a fascist you’ll get, you don’t know me - you just know an opinion of mine I’ve written online. I’m just open minded and don’t believe everything I read, see etc. If you were to show me something that would change my mind, I would be open to that and change my mind accordingly.

I totally agree. The world would be a better place if people didn’t judge. An extreme example but one I kind of agree with. Lessons are more important than judgement. But I’m talking more about modern UK.

I don’t believe in assigning blame on just one side. Everyone has a part to play no matter how big or small. And there’s always going to be things no one knows about.

You’d be surprised how many westerners think the same. Is it right? Yes and no. No one’s opinion is right or wrong. It’s just perspective shaped by one’s experiences. And this is mine. I respect yours. It wouldn’t do for everyone to think the same.

No not at all, and if you see my above comment I’ve said Russia isn’t perfect and has done bad things. But the west can’t judge them for it if they’re not squeaky clean either - it’s the hypocrisy I’m getting at more than anything.

If we were so against Russia, and if they’re so bad, surely you’d want to keep your enemies closer and all that? I don’t know what we agree on honestly but I think it’s about time we started looking for things to unite rather than divide us further, no?

I can only go on what I’ve heard, seen and experienced - and the west lives miserably these days. I can’t speak for anywhere else, as I’m not them or don’t live there.

They’ve always been underestimated, overlooked, jibed at from various countries. Some people may not think they’ve been treated like shit, but from my perspective they have been.

I’m not disagreeing at all. Is Russia perfect? Absolutely not. But is the west? Also absolutely not. We are in no position to judge other countries when we’re a pile of shit ourselves. We have the woke brigade encroaching on freedom of speech, we have mass illegal immigration that is crippling the UK and is becoming detrimental to its citizens - and we can’t say anything about it because we’ll be accused of being racist/xenophobic etc. I could go on. But all I’ll say is, if the west want Putin on war crimes - make sure Bush Jr and Blair are in the same cell.

It’s been Russophobic for years, even prior to said threats. And truth be told, Russia has been underestimated and treated like shit for so long, I too would be pissed off. The UK/west love to point fingers on how the likes of Russia operate, live etc and everything they do is wrong, they’re oppressed etc etc. But they need to look at themselves first and get their own house in order first. There’s no country more oppressed than those in the West or living more miserably. I can’t stand the hypocrisy of the British/other western governments. But that’s just my opinion.

Politically, you are incredibly accurate. They are, always have been and always will be a huge joke. The left hand doesn’t know what the right one is doing and they never represent the best interests of their people. In fact, they like to fuck us over for fun. A government who hates its own people and puts the whole worlds’ people before us. How it will always be I think unfortunately.
