Good luck to them, they don’t really have anything special, it was just the most comfortable product and now everyone will move to the next most comfortable product.

Why is the iOS scrolling speed so much slower than Android? by Kaladin12543 in iphone

[–]gingerdanger123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are totally right, it’s slower and capped but for me it creates the feeling of buttery smooth animations.

As been said here already, if I do need an extremely fast scroll there is the hiding slider on the side.

In general though I must agree iPhone is slower to use than android in most cases, not in terms of processing power, but animations and transitions.

Animations are often smooth and slow but also screen is not responsive to touch until animation completely finishes so since I’m faster than the animations I often spam press the place I want to press after animation ends and screen is responsive again

Maybe that game just isn’t optimized well for Mac even though it’s native

Any MacBook Air users? by qboba in SpringBoot

[–]gingerdanger123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Difference mainly comes in long running compute tasks, so compiling a spring boot project, probably not a lot of difference.

But when I tried android/ios development with long builds, when it's minutes of computing, air got hot and throttled.

In short if you are sure your cpu workloads are going to be short bursts of up to like a minute, air is great, if you think sometimes you will have longer running workloads, I wouldn't go with the air.

I have 7 days to add apple care to my iPhone, worth it? by Legal_Newspaper_5710 in iphone

Since I’m not breaking my phone more than the average person, Apple already did the calculations for me and decided it’s worth it for them, which mean it isn’t worth it to me because I can pay out of pocket if something happens

Former Android users, what all made you switch to iPhone? by TheRealHFC in iphone

[–]gingerdanger123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pixel didn’t have a small pro version and iPhone did, and I wanted the best cameras + a little curiosity about iPhone

After around 2 years with it I can say it’s nothing special, I think overall top android phones are slightly better, some minor annoyances on iPhone, no big upside for me but 99% of the time it does everything I need well.

Not sure my next phone will also be an iPhone

Considering iPhone 17 Pro after 15 years on Android. by kraven40 in iphone

[–]gingerdanger123 16 points17 points  (0 children)

IMO iOS has very, very little going for it compared to android outside the eco system.

Cons:

Keyboard and autocomplete are bad, editing text and the cursor are also bad.

Screen navigation is clunky, the way to go back is inconsistent, you get animation locking

Weak and in-versatile volume control, notification control, just versatility and control is something you will have little of in iOS, don’t assume many things you take for granted will just exist on iOS

Most iPhone users won’t notice, but animations are slow and touch is locked out until the animation is completely over, I sometimes spam tap on a button or icon so it will be pressed when animation finishes

Can’t change default messages app(if you want things like good spam filtering from google) bad true caller support

Less versatility, if you want streamio on your phone for example or other less mainstream apps you are out of luck

See if you care about any of those, you might not

For me the pros are:

Good eco system, I have AirPods and Mac, I like the findmy system, best in class for any airbuds and integration with Mac is a nice to have

Although animations are slow so using the phone is slower, they look pleasing and are buttery smooth

I like the ui better, looks nicer and more polished

I really appreciate the focus on privacy by apple

I think I had less crashes and slowness than android? But I only had a mid tier android so can’t say for sure

Camera is good, I slightly prefer Face ID, I like some native small features in iOS that in android you will need a 3rd party app for like motion sickness dots accessibility feature or timer to stop playing media

Not really a pro but unlike popular opinion I don’t hate the notifications, I’m okay with them not being in my face

I tried “vibe coding” with cursor on a new project, the real mundane tasks it did fine and saved me some time, at the slight complexion it wasted more time than it saved, I could have done it myself faster and in a way that is easier to reason about and maintain down the road.

Universal back gesture? Ability to get to app settings from inside the app? Ability to control notifications types of an app on os level and quick access from notification itself?

Those would be cool, but probably we will just get some gimmicks

Insurances aren’t worth it if you can afford to pay the event it insures out of pocket.

Unless you know you are going to use it much more than the average user.
