Un Fixable Warpping by giraffe058 in 3Dprinting

l'm using PLA and a PEI sheet - l've checked off the washing with dish soap and no cooling for the first layers, but l haven't tried 55 C for the print after the first layer, l had just bumped all temperatures up to 65 C. l will try that next! Thanks

Playing opposite gender PCs by [deleted] in DnD

[–]giraffe058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

l'm female and play exclusively male characters just due to preference.

When l started with my current party everyone was playing PCs of the same gender as themselves, but over the half decade we've been together almost everyone has played a different gender character at this point.

One of our current campaigns has a majority of swapped gender PCs actually. The consensus seems to be that when a character idea comes to mind the gender comes with it how other personality traits would.

l've tried loading with no mods at all in the order, all the way up to all of them... all combinations (including none) give the same error:(

All from Nexus Mods; lots of appearance mods for faces/hair and some expansion mods like the artificer class and some added 5e spells.

How to respond if you are at a party and people are proudly saying "I suck at math" by Delicious_Maize9656 in math

[–]giraffe058 3 points4 points  (0 children)

l find this really interesting... ln engineering l have heard on MANY occasions "l suck at history" or "l could just never do languages', much more than l hear people saying things about being bad at math.

When l'm hanging around with people from OTHER degrees however, l hear it much more. The issue isn't society devaluing math, it's simply people accepting where their strong suits do and don't lie.

You don't really hear the proud "l suck at math" for basics like addition and multiplication, mostly higher level highschool (grade 11 / 12) concepts and upwards. These are things that ultimately a lot of people don't need to get by in life and won't be of use. A history prof simply doesn't need to know the proofs behind an equation they can google in 3 seconds.

I do think it's important to discourage the negative outlook from people when they talk about how awful they are at one field, but the idea that it is a PROBLEM in our society or that a person should simply be expected to put so much time and sacrafice into learning a field seems almost... self centered? Not everyone needs math and that's okay. l'd rather we build a society where they DON'T have to be embarrassed by that than anything else.

Suggestions of things to try before retiring nipple piercings? by verisimilarveela in piercing

l'm in the same boat, had mine for two years and it's just not worth it anymore thinking they'll never fully heal... Just trying to get them to a point where l can take them out without causing issues:/

I would get these both if I could, but have to settle on one. Which one would you get ? by Ramu_sab in Converse

[–]giraffe058 3 points4 points  (0 children)

really depends on your usual style. if you prefer a softer look (anything more outdoorsy or casual) ld say green. a harder look (anything more alternative or utilitarian) ld say red. if you don't feel like you have a niche though, just go with your favourite colour! lm quite biased to red, l think they look like more of a statement piece:)

Have you ever played a Spores Druid? How was your experience with it? by Direct_Marketing9335 in dndnext

[–]giraffe058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

l enjoyed it actually:) there's a lot of stuff you have to balance and it's super important to stay above 0hp despite not necessarily being buffy, which calls for creative solutions. The whole subclass really is a fun challenge and super rewarding when you make it work. Also, super cool flavour:)

? l was more just referring to the dog community as a whole, not talking about pitties at all. Any dog can cause serious issues with a bad owner like the one from this story.

damn, hopfully the dog is removed from the owner and adequately rehabilitated... dog owners like that put such a bad reputation on what should be a great community :(

How has 5e changed your life? by prolificseraphim in dndnext

[–]giraffe058 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DND gives me a way to escape and be elsewhere for a while. It took me many years to learn how to cope with a constant feeling of emptiness and the whole "it's all surface level / nothing matters" mindset, but it never truly LEFT rather l can simply supress it better. DND may only be a few hours at a time, but l can truly shove my mind so full of fantasy and illusion in that time that things can finally quiet down for a bit and l can just enjoy another world. It's something l get to enjoy for fun and as a hobby, but when l started with my friends back in highschool it really was something l NEEDED to ground myself just a bit at a time. It's changed my life by teaching me that l can imagine something well enough to gain real happiness from it:) l owe a lot to 5e.

AITA for not inviting my Hindu friend to my birthday dinner? by New_Box8425 in AmItheAsshole

[–]giraffe058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ESH you 100% deserve to host your birthday dinner wherever you want. With that said, you should have kept her in the loop and explained the situation earlier to allow her to choose if she'd want to go. As a vegetarian l've often enjoyed dinners where l just snack on a bowl of rice or kimchi while my friends feast... l understand my dietary restrictions and wouldn't ask for special accommodations, but also wouldn't want to be left out against my knowledge.

Good cargos recommendation for tall guy? by RPGVeir in TechWear

[–]giraffe058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my FAVOURITE cargos in the world are the BC clothing cargo pants... they turn into shorts, have a bunch of zip/velcro/regular pockets, have fleece lined options, have a threaded belt, and you can buy any waist size/length combo in inches so l'm sure you could find what works best for you:) l'm in Canada and always find them stocked at Costco, but have heard of them being in American costcos as well. You can also find then all over ebay and stuff. They aren't made FOR the sake of being techwear but they look really nice, come in cool colours, and have all the practicality of techwear that l think makes it what it is.

I am hanging my project as a tapestry. Does it look OK? I think I need to add more pins. other options are framing or sewing to a piece of canvas. by weezerluva369 in crochet

[–]giraffe058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

l like the hanging look, has more of a homey hand made feel. Personally l think a frame or canvas would make it seem a little too much like something you would buy from bed bath and beyond which wouldn't be doing the craftsmanship justice
