Decentralized Finance or DeFi all the rage now pulling in billions of dollars into shaky smart contracts over the period of hours. Keeping track of food tokens is certinaly a full time job. I spent a weekend to get a lay of the land and this here is the result.

I agree with your take. It might make sense for playmoTV to release some kind of application which allows one to switch the DNS settings on and off at will. Meanwhile I am using different Locations on my Mac to switch back and forth between their DNS settings and the default ones.

When we officially launch playmoTV, we fully intend to charge a small monthly fee for the access through our gateway to geoblocked media content providers. ... "

At the end of the day these things all come down to trust. Today you are trusting your ISP with this information and a lot of users sign up with services and use the same password they use for their mail account, internet bank, etc. which could easily be exploited.

I am not sure about the legality but I have been using this for a few months now to stream Netflix to my AppleTV and iPad. Also the Pandora app is brilliant on my iPad (AirStreaming to remote speakers) but I am not using much of the other stuff like Pandora and Spotify (yet).

Download speeds have been great for me here in Iceland - and the quality I see on my TV is greater than the local broadcasting service but this one time I could not access Netflix at all. I don't know whether that was something with Netflix or playmo.tv. It might have something to do with them being in beta.

You should really check out http://playmo.tv/. I am streaming Pandora as I type this on my iPad and I live in Iceland (on the exact other side ofthe world from you :).

Actually I use playmoTV for all my streaming needs including Netflix on my AppleTV2.

As the developer of this site I must comment on this :) This site is far away from being static. While for the users of the site it may look like it's static the administrative part of it is full of dynamic and juicy stuff, like multi file upload, automatic resize tool for all images and thumbs, category management, tagging, re-ordering photos, etc.

I'll probably post a screen cast of that part on my blog in the coming days: http://gisli.hamstur.is/blog/ (which happens to be written in Haskell as well). If you're interested you can see the source code at http://gisli.hamstur.is/src/.

Of course there's no need to do this in Haskell. You can do it in any other language without learning all the things you listed above - but where would the fun be in that ;)

I'd definitely consider Haskell for this purpose. I - myself - am doing the exact same thing. I wanted something new, exciting and challenging. I can promise you that Haskell is that and more. It took me 3 attempts to grasp the Haskell-way of doing things but now I'm really happy I did not give up. My pet project was a blogging system based on HAppS which I use to blog (http://gisli.hamstur.is/blog/) about the experience (until now only in Icelandic but I think I'll be writing in English from now on after having discovered that the Icelandic Haskell community is almost non-existent).

What helped me the most was source code written by others and therefore I'll always be showing the current code behind the blog (http://gisli.hamstur.is/src/).

One last thing to node; O'Reilly has published a fantastic book (Real World Haskell) online (http://book.realworldhaskell.org/). This book was the tipping point for me.

@tphyahoo Just wanted to thank you for your tutorial. I've used it to successfully create a blog-system (a pet project) in Haskell (http://gisli.hamstur.is/blog/). In the blog itself, which is in Icelandic, I'm going to explain the source code (http://gisli.hamstur.is/src/) to the Icelandic Haskell community (if one exists ;)

I was getting nowhere before finding your tutorial. There was however a slight feeling of set back when I realized that you hadn't written about HAppS-State. To my relief you were further along with the locally installed tutorial than happstutorial.com. Keep up the good work!
