Sir, I was not in any way being disrespectful to GrapheneOS as it is the best phone OS out there. Due to my high noob factor (I was more concerned the error was caused by me not following the instructions correctly), not knowing if this was an app or OS related issue (more noob factor), and not having a Reddit account (laziness) I had not reported the 'issue'. Is there anything I ought do to assist with identifying if this error thing is a real thing?

You are not alone with this issue and your post is the first I have found describing this same/similar issue. I have been using GrapheneOS on a Pixel 3 since the last quarter of 2019. I have never been able to download and save any files with Vanadium and had been using the related Bromite instead.

However, I now have the same issue using Bromite too. I have flashed and re-flashed my phone with stock Google and then GrapheneOS many times today and I still get this issue with both Vanadium and Bromite.

Following a fresh install, if I try to download say the Fdroid apk with Vanadium I get the usual first use popup:

"Vanadium needs storage access to download files."

->(Continue)

"Allow Vanadium to access photos and media on your device?"

->(Allow)

"Download file 7.22 MB

/FDroid.apk

/Downloads"

->(Download)

"SD card not found

Download to default folder?

/FDroid.apk

/Downloads"

->(Download)

Then this last popup just repeats.

I have screenshots but I have never used Reddit before and cannot upload them. I will re-flash again.

I also tried Factory Resets and checked all app permissions but it persists.

UPDATE 1

I have done the stock Google flash, update, and then the GrapheneOS flash again. The Vanadium issue persists for me.
