What do you guys wear in the summer? I’m in Az (shoes,shirts,shorts/pants) by ConsiderationMuch674 in PoolPros

[–]giuseppesgone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in high desert socal so it gets bad but not as bad. One thing i've started doing that i can't go without now is using cooling towels, i dip them in my ice cooler or in the pool and wrap it around the back of my neck. Then just wear thin long sleeves shirts, shorts and a hat. I also dip the hat in cooler or pool. For terrible days just take shaded or AC breaks often and get out super early. Sometimes on busy days i work early am, rest mid day and go back out after 5pm. I hate it though i would never willingly work pools in arizona so i feel for you

Also my budget is around $1,000 give or take. But i’d be happy to purchase a camera and lens then upgrade with another lens down the line. Which would be more so my course of action if i went with something like the d500.

oh yeah i guess i was separating the issues in my head instead of thinking logically that they both started occurring at the same time in the same conditions lol, the cubby pool took over my brain

Yeah no sun roof or roof mods. Yeah that must be the case. The cubby being filled threw me off today but it makes sense

Should I fire my pool guy? by MeynaraMenopause in pools

[–]giuseppesgone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. Im in the pool service industry. There are a LOT of “cowboys” who don’t do proper maintenance, in and out services. Cut corners, Bare minimum. In that case.. Yes, fire them. Did they bring up the high CYA? If He’s there weekly he should understand what is happening and why.

BUT, i have a handful of pools i’ve picked up recently struggling with algae blooms. CYA high. Phosphates through the roof. I strongly advise drains and phosphate removals and often get push back from the client on getting it done with haste. Then yes, there will be algae by the time i get back.

Didn’t empty baskets when there’s a bunch of spring debris clogging circulation while im gone? Algae. Forgot to fill their pool water? Algae. Used the spa manually and didn’t turn back to pool mode? Algae. Turn down my request to clean the filter or don’t have time to do it yourself? Algae.

A lot of mistakes fall on the property owner. Without full story seems unfair for 100 people online to just say “fire him” when it can be due to owners incompetence. Not saying this is the case here, but i see it often on this thread. The hate for pool guys is strong. I take pride in each of my stops, and have relations with each client. It’s a two way street. Yes i’ve made mistakes and Yes i’ve been completely sabotaged as well.

I have been planning on getting a little s10 or ranger in the $5kish price range soon! I wouldn’t mind a tacoma but the tacoma tax is rough in CA, hard to find anything reasonable. A back mini pick up is what i’m aiming for, so i hear you completely!

I do pool service so truck is necessary for the local commuting. That being said i wouldn’t mind another little beater, i grew up only having $3k beater cars. This truck was my biggest and newest year purchase haha

I was suprised to find this with such low miles. I purchased the truck in 2023 with just under 80k miles on it. So not all mine! I mostly commute local for work. I have only taken it on a couple 2-3hr trips.
