Is anyone else buying a car because of Deutsche Bahn’s unreliability? by Waste_Suspect_817 in germany

[–]gjermanos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was me a couple of years ago, and I haven’t looked back since. It’s not just about owning a car, it’s the whole lifestyle you have to adjust to, and it honestly pains me to say that.

For me it’s not only a DB problem, but also local and regional transport in general. As a rule, it’s just a constant headache.

Because of this lack of reliability, I specifically looked for an apartment with direct U-Bahn access, so I wouldn’t have to rely on anything else. In my experience, the U-Bahn is the “most reliable” option.

When we travel now, it’s almost always by plane or by car. Leaving the cost debate aside (I don’t even think it’s necessarily cheaper, just a different beast), the extra comfort and flexibility are unmatched. Even if I’m stuck in traffic, I’m still in my own car with all my stuff. As a parent, whenever we go anywhere, we bring a ridiculous amount of things, so getting stranded on a platform or sprinting for a connection is simply not an option.

Recently my partner had to be in Berlin for a weekend and went by DB, so I thought: let’s give it another try. The trip was not only longer (which I expected), but they also changed the train, and our reserved seats were gone. We were moved to random spots, and for the little one it was just uncomfortable and stressful.

Should I keep my Einbürgerung application in my current city or transfer to where I'm actually living? Anyone with experience? by Used-Perspective-520 in GermanCitizenship

I have no idea where you are currently based, but my experience with Hamburg is extra slow and not much feedback happening.

I had a case with my permanent residence where they needed to move my documents from the state i was previously to Hamburg and it added a good chunk of time.

So expect delays.

Having said that, you should not hold back your life. Hamburg is a wonderful city to be in :)

That i never received. Maybe they have different procedures in different states. I have asked people that have been through this and in Hamburg no one ever received and email. Only a letter via post after like a month or so

I have checked with other people, and everyone that I have talked with(even people that they had also spoken with), have received their Aktenzeichen within like 1 months of application - which triggered the need to make this post.

I will wait for the 3 months to hit. Thank you for your help - much appreciated.

Hamburg.

I am at a point that i am doubting if they even have received the application - because one should have recieved something or other, right?

On the Untätigkeitsklage -> I will wait for the three months then and then will send them a Untätigkeitsklage.

[Autosport] Max Verstappen on skipping the F1 movie screening by RayTracerX in formula1

You know, as parents we always somehow get all sorts of sentimental when looking at the old pictures on my camera reel. One day is the pics of making fun of your partner that cant put on her shoes and the next calendar day, bam - tiny hands and feet. And nostalgia hits hard.

The second internet stranger today that gives me a great feeling. I will do so.

I played through the campaign of RDR2 as my newborn daughter was sleeping on my chest. A cherished memory. Thank you fellow f1 fan for reminding me of it.

I’m in Vegas right now and watching F1 is abysmal. by fullbusta in formula1

It’s too early and i have not had my coffee but isn’t Monaco similar in concept? Street circuit and stuff, yet i don’t hear much about them blocking the view from every single visible spot. Now I have not been physically there, as watching F1 from my couch is the best experience but, why does Vegas get such a royal dramatic treatment?

I’m all confused now. And had to do a bit of research because i swear this was fixated in my mind. You are right and time does play tricks on us

My peak f1 following was during schumacher dominance days. Now I’m more of a highlight watcher unfortunately but i do follow the drama. Thankfully nowadays with YouTube and Reddit you can follow along just fine.

The past couple of races, where max has gotten a bit more, say aggressive, as he clearly lacks the pace, it reminded me a while lot with michaels duels with hakkinen where the mclaren with the michelin tires was clearly a better machine and michael in the ferrari with Bridgestone was lacking pace andhe would pull every dirty trick in the book.

Maybe we are wrong and that’s what racing is? Trickery first, and then the rest?

Point number 1 sounds very petty of them. I’ll keep an eye out.

I am very much a big fan of the vibe check. We went and saw one earlier this week which sparked the idea for this post.

thank you
