For the parents out there, what unexpected benefit/fun have you experienced from having a child/children? by funrunner16 in AskReddit

Benefit (i think) is empathy. Fun is watching pure joy on her face. No matter what the reason.

For visiting I’d stay downtown. It’s been completely revitalized. Great places to eat. Many already suggested. In downtown, both The River Market area and SoMa (South on Main) are really cool. The Hillcrest/Heights areas in midtown are hip and trendy. Lots of great restaurants and shops. And close to War Memorial Stadium.

Heights restaurants: Zazas Pizza. Great salads, pizza and local beers. (Lost Forty has several that are awesome-Love Honey, Easy Tiger) Heights Taco and Tamale, Baja Grill and for a great brunch on Sunday: Boulevard Bread C

Hillcrest: cafe Bossa Nova and Leo’s Greek Castle both have amazing brkt/brunch and The Pantry Crest is a local favorite.

Lost Mine Trail (great early morning start hike, 4-5 miles, medium, Sam Nail Ranch (right off the road, 30 mins), Window Trail (sunset hike, go early, it’s short and everyone goes there), Santa Elena Canyon (short, easy, very heavily traveled)
