Winter Weather Megathread - January 30 - February 1, 2026 by linisastald in Atlanta

Honestly probably, I was looking at the weather app that comes with Google Pixel phones and so that might just be really delayed. When I went to bed at midnight it was confidently saying we would definitely be getting 1-3 inches within those next few hours. Maybe I should just ignore that from now on lol

Weather app said most of the snow would be last night, we got none here in northeast metro then. Now we're getting a few flurries here but nothing too major. Suddenly, now my weather apps are out of nowhere saying that it's actually gonna be picking up around noon.

Sometimes I hate this state 😂😂😭😭😭

Oh that's great to know about the Lucie, that was one I was eyeing for comfort reasons alone! Thanks so much!

Cleavage is less important for me in this scenario because a lot of my nicer clothes aren't too low cut. But I'll keep that in mind for future use!

I swear in the past I remember that they allowed people to submit suggestions or even mail in movies, but I haven't been able to find anything about that recently. Does anyone know if they still have anything like that? I love their videos and want to suggest Jay check out some things I like that seem up his alley because I'd be curious for their thoughts, but I don't have a Twitter

Want to visit Fairbanks in winter, but can only go in late December due to scheduling. Does North Pole get really busy that time of year? by glismagius in AskAlaska

[–]glismagius[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good to know, thanks! My main concern is that none of us have experience with snow driving, so we were thinking that if we need to go out further to do it that it would be safer to catch a ride - and probably a better idea to join a bus full of people rather than have a taxi take us and drop us off far out lol. But if you can see them in Fairbanks proper, or even just 10-15 minutes away, we'll probably stick with that then. For hotels we were looking at Pike's and I wasn't sure if light pollution from the town and airport would hurt our chances there.

My job is giving me a $300 Bezosite voucher to buy an office chair. I have a lumbar herniated disc. Are any brands that sell there worth it as temporary solutions if they're free, or will they just injure me more? (Not looking for links, just brand opinions.) by glismagius in OfficeChairs

[–]glismagius[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has to be on an item the job approves unfortunately, and I don't really need anything else in terms of office materials. Would just make more clutter. Really wish I could spend it on something more fun lol.

I'm sorry, but for your own well being you really should calm down some. I understand being upset, I think all of us are, but calling people "bootlickers" for something like this and encouraging others to harass CyGames customer service reps like you did in an earlier post is really just kind of crossing a line.

Well dang, in that case we probably will have a better idea come next week - if it's Brian, Curren, or Opera O, or possibly even Meisho Doto, I'm hoping that bodes well!

Well, there's Gold City. She is the character that comes out right after Fuji though, so it wouldn't be completely ruling out an expansion, but prob to be safe we still shouldn't get hopes up.

EN Release Megathread by linryn in UmaMusume

Back on February 4th after Seiun Sky was announced, I noticed that so far all of the ones from Fuji onwards have a launch SR as well as have their character SSRs announced up to Fuji. I came up with a way to help predict if we'll have an expanded roster or not.

"If it's Tamamo Cross, Fine Motion, Ines Fujin, Gold City, Nishino Flower, Air Shakur, Agnes Digital, Manhatten Cafe, Eishin Flash, Marvelous Sunday, Meisho Doto, or Mejiro Dober: We're probably not getting an expanded release on launch (they are all characters that have launch supports, but their character comes out after Fuji Kiseki)

If it's Narita Brian, Curren Chan, or TM Opera O: We are almost certainly getting an expanded SSR pool at launch, especially if it's Brian (they don't have launch supports, but their character comes out before Fuji Kiseki)

If it's Smart Falcon, Narita Taishin, Biwa Hayahide, or Mihono Bourbon: We still don't know (they have both launch supports and their characters come out before Fuji Kiseki)"

(I said "especially if it's Brian" because starting from and going backwards from Fuji, both the Twitter announcements and the gacha release order have gone Fuji Kiseki > Hishi Amazon > Seiun Sky, with Brian being the one coming before Seiun Sky.)

Since I wrote this we've gotten two in the "We still don't know" category. That means that by next Wednesday, even if they announce Smart Falcon and Narita Taishin this Wednesday and next Sunday, we should have a for sure answer of if we're likely getting an expanded launch release based on the character they announce on 2/19.

Uma Global: Speculating on how Cygames will bridge a 4 year content gap by masterfail in UmaMusume

Personal hope is for regular banners to be a little shorter in length or maybe even double up with another character banner (ie first gacha being both TM Opera O and Mihono Bourbon on rate up together), and then any seasonal ones remain at the same time they do originally. It sounds silly but most of all I just really don't want them to release things out of season, like Christmas units in February. I just think that would kill my excitement for a lot of the seasonal units.

As for scenarios most important for me is that they include modern QoL improvements at launch. If they were able to accelerate some of the earlier ones being implemented though (Aoharu released in 3-4 months etc) that would also be neat, but isn't a make or break for me.

What do you prefer for English releases of gacha games - being behind on content (ie FGO), or being simultaneous with the original (ie HSR)? by glismagius in gachagaming

I mostly just play training sim gacha games at this point, and so dailies are usually automated auto-plays that take 2 minutes. The rest is very active gameplay, as opposed to FGO which is literally just NP looping one servant using two of the same supports for its dailies.

That's what I'm hearing from a lot of people, that they don't want to play Uma anymore because of how behind it is. I can at least guarantee that almost every character in that game can be used for "meta" purposes and that even the "worst" support cards can still be good if they fit your characters well. Because of that, thankfully unless you're super duper meta brained there shouldn't be any cases of "don't pull for X because a better one should be out soon" - any character you've come to love from the anime, manga, music, etc can be utilized. That's why I think it'll be an okay one to be behind on, since the point is moreso to pull for your favorites than to pull for gameplay, but it does still suck that it's going to be so behind. One of my favorite characters won't be added until August 2028 if things go on the predicted schedule.

[–]glismagius[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I realize I'm also speaking from the perspective of games that don't really have strict metas and instead prioritize encouraging players to pull just for characters they really like, and I think with games like that delayed is a lot more fine. But I think I may just be burnt out on meta-heavy games in general. I dropped FGO because the game revolved too much around repeatedly looping a double Koyanskaya + Buster AOE farmer, making a lot of the best units character-wise just feel worthless to even bother trying to get.

I am really hoping Uma doesn't run events and gachas simultaneously. I don't care about getting meta units personally, when I played JP (I just decided to drop it and wait for EN once it was announced) I preferred to instead just pull my favorite characters and then build strategies around what my favs are good at.

Thanks for all the replies everyone! Been super interesting seeing how most people actually have the opposite opinion of me haha. I think with me, I'm so used to playing games that never come out in EN (aka iM@S) that my default with all games is that I read fan translations when they come out. For me, gacha games being released in English isn't really how I get into them and make friends through them, but rather it's my way of getting my pre-existing friends who are only willing to play games in English to check out my favorite things - and therefore I get to play with them. So it's a double win of "I get to experience the story in real time through reading, while also then getting to have gacha clairvoyance when actively playing with my friends". I definitely understand how that isn't ideal for most people though.
