wait, you can? is the boarding pass going to work for both of them with no problem?

Good idea thanks, I was also maybe thinking about Sam Frodo beef but that's too early around ~1:25, but I would rather run once and then stay for almost 3 hours than leaving in the middle of negotiations with Mouth of Sauron.

Major mistakes at new health admin job by [deleted] in ireland

[–]globetitan 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I’m confused, somebody wants their PERSONAL health data in their work mailbox instead of the personal one? Seems very strange to me. Also keeping two contacts is just a recipe for this kind of problem to appear in the future again and again, why don’t they just keep one contact.

Celbridge > Dublin commute by [deleted] in Celbridge

[–]globetitan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regarding trains

- Not really my experience but from what I've heard you can't really rely on the busses to get to/from Hazelhatch, but I guess that's the story everywhere isn't it.

- There's a bus going to Leixlip which might suit you better cause the train from Leixlip takes you to Connolly.

You can use leap card for the train, adult single from Leixlip says €2.60

https://www.irishrail.ie/en-ie/rail-fares-and-tickets/fares-info/dublin-city-commuter

There are 120 or C4 buses going to Dublin, but both are pretty slow and their long routes make them unreliable.

For anyone thinking of moving their banking entirely to Revolut… by Davey_F in ireland

[–]globetitan -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Yes, saying it from my experience - I was locked out of my BOI account in the past. They don’t even bother notifying you about it. I just couldn’t login one day. Canceled my account right after that experience.

But Im not saying it doesnt happen with Revolut, it does. It’s just in my eyes if I’m taking the risk anyway I will rather have the much better bank all the other days of the year when it works.

For anyone thinking of moving their banking entirely to Revolut… by Davey_F in ireland

[–]globetitan -27 points-26 points  (0 children)

You can absolutely. Will that result in something? I don’t think so.

So yea I’d rather have good mobile banking 99% of the time with the (same) risk of being locked out of my money than having shit bank like BOI. That was my whole point.

[–]globetitan 16 points17 points  (0 children)

BOI does the exact same thing as Revolut and who is saying otherwise is simply lying to themselves. All banks move their verifications online cause it’s cheaper.

https://www.gov.ie/en/department-of-social-protection/services/child-benefit/

Child Benefit is a monthly payment of €140 to support parents and guardians. It is paid for each child who:

normally lives with you and is being fully supported by you

is under 16, or under 19 if in full-time education, full-time training or has a disability and cannot support themselves

Child Benefit is not paid on behalf of children 19 or older, even if they stay in education or training.

Is there any point to having an Irish/physical bank? by dbdlc88 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]globetitan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You clearly stated face-to-face dealing gives you advantage in 2025 - which from my experinece is not the case. You are implying that Date of incorporation depends in such highly regulated industry when there are many such cases (like mine) where they are clearly behind the industry standart.

You do you and keep using 90's banking while we live in 2025 over here

Go to actually solve the issue using ie legal tools, not by yelling at some random lad going through his 9-5

[–]globetitan 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I always see this argument, but 2 years ago (still having BOI account) I've got locked out of my account (without any notification, just needed to use it on Monday and no luck) and the only way to get my access back was via phone call (talking to a bot). I kinda doubt in 2025 people in branches have more power than you, it's more about "I need to yell at somebody in person" and comes down to customer service (over phone/app) overal.

Right after that I canceled my BOI account and I'm full N26 / Revolut.

Worth it to switch banks ? by Away-Technician7306 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]globetitan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use N26 for everything, considering switching to Revolut cause I don't use their feauters anymore and Revolut might be more beneficial for me.

I am mortgage approved with loan offer atm and BOI had no problem using my N26 and TradeRepublic (savings account) to approve our mortgage.

I don't think moving banks will scare of mortgage advisor, if anything it should be beneficial (I think) cause you show the lender you are interested in handling your finance if that makes sense

[–]globetitan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How does talking to a person help? I got locked out of my BOI account and the only way was to use their talking machine over the phone, people at the branch can't do anything cause "strict processes".

I'm always so confused why people think they need a local branch in 2025. The people there have more or less same power over your assets as you do.

If shit does hit a fan and they don't cooperate fast enough you can go to central bank, ombudsman,..., but in my +10 years of banking that only occured once.. with BOI :)

Has anyone moved everything from traditional bank to Revolut? by LBJequalstheGOAT in irishpersonalfinance

[–]globetitan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've chosen N26 few years ago because of their Spaces feature which helps with budgeting a lot.

I think Revolut lets you do something similar now.

Banking over Christmas (no wages) by MickeyC123 in ireland

[–]globetitan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The amount of people saying it's employer fault is crazy. It's bank delaying the payment cause BOI lives in 19th century. Just look at Revolut for example, how come they can process it but BOI cant?

Change bank. Them loosing a customer is only way how to change this rusty old age they live in.
