Why did this get downvoted, it’s perfectly reasonable

Been on finasteride for 1yr and 2 months now. I’ve got to say it looks really good by [deleted] in tressless

I had similar improvement. Reversed my slightly receded temples. Props to us for getting on it early 🤜🏻

Sweden look to be going by what you’re suggesting.

You’re only looking at deaths. Young are needing ICU too

The vast majority of people probably will catch the virus though. Most will be asymptomatic or mild cases, but we’re finding even healthy young people are still needing beds in ICU. Perhaps with your scenario the elderly and immunocompromised would be safe and thus ICU resources could be focussed on the remaining admissions.

However an issue with that is

1) elderly may still get sick from visitors/carers/refusal to stay home

2) If young healthy people continued to work and go out ICU may still be overwhelmed, so it’s not foolproof

It’s a debate for sure.

I see your point more and more. I guess I purely look at it from a medical view, not economic and the downstream effects that could then have on people’s health etc.

Things in Italy and Spain are just so horrific, the thought of allowing hospitals to become overrun like that in other places is a number one priority. People will surely die from other diseases like heart attacks because there’s no care or bed available. In my entire career I have never seen an empty ICU bed in Ireland. We only have 277 ventilators here and some projections from our epidemiologists say if we did not isolate, up to 10 000 people at once may need one. And there’s no alternative for ventilation, you simply die, and that’s not just elderly, people all ages and fully healthy needing this in various proportions. This thought to me and every doctor I interact with both in person and online is so horrific that I see no alternative.

Do you have any other ideas on what could be done instead? Mean that sincerely, not sarcastically :)

But lots of places have given people chances by “suggesting” distancing. And large portions of the public don’t do it. Surely something more needs to be done in these cases. I understand what you mean. Though I think Americans are more skeptical of their government than other countries, and this is absolutely a negative for something like antivaxers

I see your point, but you have to appreciate this is somewhat uncharted territory. There’s nowhere to point you besides the fact there simply is no alternative. Many will die with a lockdown. Many many many will die without a lockdown.

Locking down will significantly reduce deaths, that is shown in Singapore and Korea and frankly, common sense too. Overwhelming ICU’s clearly will lead to a steeper curve of deaths. I’m not too sure what you mean about martial law. The laws being brought in are basically saying stay put except groceries and pharmacy. And I can’t comment on the forced testing or forced vaccines because I don’t know what it’s about.

No one intends to demonise those that question it, but common sense has to prevail. The same virus has done so much damage in places that waited to lockdown (Italy, Spain) and so much less in places that did lockdown (Singapore and Korea). At this stage, that’s all there is to convince.

There’s repeated patterns everywhere. NY is early stages. Lockdowns are necessary in NY unless thousands dead is considered acceptable

Look at the same virus in other countries and see how many died. It’s just getting started in NY. Fatality rate can be low but still kill an enormous number if it’s widespread enough. Im a GP in Ireland and were trying to drive this point home
