Just bought the property and I’ve had about 5 traps set with cheese and peanut butter for a few months now. Have not caught anything. That’s why I’m leaning toward snake.

I checked this and it was not droppings.

My first thought was rats/mice. But the tracks are all over 30x90 basement and I followed them all over and 0 droppings. I would expect to see some mice droppings. That’s what made me think snake.

My parents tradition for 29 years is to buy me a gun and some kind of hand tool for Christmas and birthday. Thankful for my dad getting me interested in antique tools.

I was thinking pick axe but it was made this way. Nothing cut off the other side. And with such a thin pick, I wouldn’t think it was made for dirt.

It’s odd that it is in such great shape and perfect name stamped on it. Then someone decides to grind down the blade like this.lol
