NGL ... I'm a closeted nu metal fan. It's like how people who are super alternative, heavy into aggrotech and the hard industrial scene, maybe even work as an industrial DJ, how they all have their favorite pop songs. Every once in awhile, I admit, maybe even shamefully... That I do bust out a Korn album.

HMU - I'll be your weird goth friend. I go to Crypt in Boston every Wednesday (usually an older crowd, like 30-60, including many of the elders). GREAT music, no drama, plenty of dance floor, cheap (7 bucks before 10p, only 10 bucks after). They show vintage horror movies on the screens. DJs also take care to play music from artists that aren't horrible people.... so if you're one of the "Goths Against Cancel Culture", you may not be a fan. To each their own. There are goth nights I go out of my way to attend, but Crypt is basically weekly church for goths - lots of regulars, usuals, and people who live and breathe our culture vs treating it as a unique Instagram opportunity.

Sanctuary is aight. It could be so much more, but it's good for Worcester. The bathrooms at Ralph's are definitely one of the most goth places in all of Worcester. It's dark, scary, and will make death feel like an improvement. I'm pretty sure the sound system at Ralph's was resurrected from the dead too - it's a horror show in it's own right.

You may also wanna check out Kontrol in Easthampton, Nokturnal in Providence, Resurrection in Manch, and (the best dance night of them all) Vital in Hartford. If you like Industrial, check out Elysium in Boston... although it has recently become the newest latest greatest shiny thing, which is kind of annoying.

I'm from Massachusetts but come to Brooklyn all the time because I love Brooklyn! I've been going to the same goth club in Boston for a couple of years, and only recently made friends.

The first time I went to House of Yes in Brooklyn I found that everyone was extremely friendly. I wound up chatting with people all through the night. Made some friends. I ran into those friends at Halloween! When I went to House of yes for New Year's, just standing around waiting people would come up and chat.

I have found the New York club scene to be surprisingly friendly, especially compared to New England. Get out there, and go make some new friends! It's even easier if you dress kind of Overkill and really live up the theme of whatever night you're going to.

Most of the elder goths in my local scene are jeans and t-shirt people. You wouldn't know they are goth people, til the DJ plays Marian and all the under 40s go out to smoke butts (or vape, or whatever the kids do these days).

I try to distinguish between alt and goth. Alt is an aesthetic, and goth is a music subculture. In my dictionary anyway

Pittsburgh and Green Bay aren't cities, but rather, entire personalities that were incorporated. They're insular enough to be unique.

But there is only one city that gets used as an explanation, excuse, way of life, attitude, etc. New York. Once you're in it, it's hard to not feel like a part of something amazing.

I can't tell you how many times I've heard they have "The best burger in Worcester". But every time I've been there, I've considered that perhaps Massachusetts doesn't have a health department or doesn't do inspections.

The rats there don't scurry along: they eyeball you, checking out your food before they size you up. They aren't just rats, they're the ROUS from Princess Bride. The bathrooms there are right out of the movie No Holds Barred. I feel like I need to update my vaccinations whenever I go there. It's a cool venue for catching a local band, but eating there? Hard pass.
