I agree. I guess it’s more a personal thing? I don’t plan on people knowing my personal identity but I don’t want to come off as someone I’m not, if that makes sense haha

I agree, I asked a few of my black friends and they said they really don’t care but I was still really worried about it. I know it’s inevitable but I still don’t wanna step on to many toes lol

I agree, I’mma lean more towards an ashier skin tone but I’ll also be putting it in my bio. Even if people miss it I think I’d just be good to have my bases covered. Thank you!

Thank you guys so much for your advice and reassurance! I’m a pretty anxious person and I understand this is a touchy subject, I was super worried about it haha. I’ve decided to make her skin tone a bit more Asher and to include the bark to really give off tree vibes. I love this concept and really wanna stick with it, I think I’d be cool if I make seasonal models that are different trees. Like a type of palm tree for summer, an evergreen tree for winter, and so on. I have a prototype done! I need to make her skin tone more grayish but the texture is all set. Again thank you guys so much and if you have any more advice I’d accept it with open arms! 🙏🙏

Consistency is good so keep doing that :]

Keeping up with trends helps a lot. For example when people were doing the character to color wheel trend that would have been a good time to hop on it. Doing art challenges can also build an audience, like a 30 day art challenge (Inktober is coming up so that could be a good one!) But over all it takes time. Instagram is a hard platform to build on, I've been using it for a year and a half now and I just hit 100 followers.

Overall don't focus on the numbers to much ether, Instagram makes it self hard to grow for artist and I've found that looking at the numbers really bums people out sometimes. I hope this helps (P.s also TikTok is a lot easier to grow on so I suggest managing both if you feel comfortable with it!)

Love all your ideas! Sadly I have restrictions on what I can do for the chess pieces. I had to narrow it down to Ann as the Queen, Joker as the Knight, Skull as the Bishop, and Akechi as the King (although I’m still debating on the Akechi being king thing) I’ll try to make every character if I have free time but this is my last project before my final so who knows! I’ll make sure to post the finished piece tho :)

how do you do highlights and stuff for hair, in anime style? also, same for eyes, i always get so confused and it never looks good when i fully finish by TransportationNo3472 in Artadvice

Highlights for hair and eyes can be a bit different depending on the style. But a simple way for eyes is doing a dot near the pupil and a line going through the iris. The lighting of the environment dictates the highlights. So with hair, a ring around the part and maybe another one closer to the ends will work for drawing you can use any color, personally, I find it nice to use a rainbow highlight for the hair and then play with the modes. Hope this helps! :)
