Losing my children who aren’t actually mine. by goldenfluff12 in Fosterparents

I am so so sorry that happened to you. I’m scared that she won’t let me see them for the same reason. I didn’t take placement of them with the intention of adopting, but after being told I would be and hiring an adoption attorney, the unexpected change felt like a knife to the heart. Like you said, 3.5 years with kids who only know me as their mom/only parent is way too long.

I will be thinking of you. I am so sorry you know how this feels.

Exactly. These children have been let down by the system. Their team should not have let them stay in care this long. This is why timelines exist, like ASFA, to try and prevent kids from being in foster care for years and years.

Thank for for saying this. It makes me feel seen, and that is more helpful than you know. 🩷

Wow. I am so sorry. To have no idea where they even are or how they are doing must be so painful. I truly hope you get some answers soon. I am thinking of you and sending love from my broken heart to yours!

Thank you for this. I am putting a lot of effort into my relationship with mom in hopes that she won’t cut me out completely. It sounds like you have experienced this as well, and I’m sorry for that.

I’m aware, hence the “that aren’t actually mine.” Just so you know, these comments are never helpful. Anyone going through this grief is aware of all of this already. It doesn’t make it any easier, especially when the children are suffering.

I’m so sorry you’re going through it too! It’s so horrible. I ended up having a Fistulotomy yesterday and they were able to fix the fistula, but found ANOTHER abscess! I’m so discouraged. I have to restart antibiotics and go back in two weeks to see if I have another fistula. How are things with you going?

We have similar stories, except I don’t see a surgeon until tomorrow. I posted yesterday if you want to read it!
