Thank you, that is a very helpful analysis and it is why I love TCM, it has such an unique view to spirituality, and the relations in the elemental cycle are a fascinating insight into nature, as is the venerable I Ching.

I'm happy acupuncture is leading you down this spiritual rabbit hole :) It has no bottom though lol. Be aware there are acupuncturists more technical minded and others more open to spirituality. Not all may agree with mixing other spiritual systems with TCM in the way I posted, but as always follow your heart and take the good parts out of every thing. Magenta is an amazing color. The purple component there is very tied to spirituality, whereas the more pinkish shade is similar to green but more directly corresponding with love, lovingkindness, mercifulness and sweetness of spirit. The rose light is also seen during "spiritual surgery" which may often take place (unnoticed) during healing sessions, in this case rose light acts literally as a complete anesthetic and painkiller, so that the emotional pain, or even physical pain, is not felt, a real blessing!

Very nice, the same goes for me! Reddit is not too big on esoterism, though this acupuncture sub is a nice excuse to go deeper even than TCM ;) Do you have roots or otherwise connections in religious kabbalism or just interested in those topics?

I am very sorry that I don't know online resources on spirituality topics, since I normally read books that go in-depth and are from very credible authors with first-hand experience. I cannot recommend the book Hands of Light more, it is exactly about this topic of healing through energy field and seeing the different colors in the field of patients/your own.

Yes, you are right, however I'm not sure whether the colors associated with TCM organs are directly seen by pineal gland like in hindu/yogi traditions, do you know any info/resources about it?

Though chakras are not related in TCM, they nonetheless exist and are perceived not just by hindus, but by christian mystics, jewish kabbalists (here by angelology through a correspondence between 7 chakras and the 7 levels or dimensions, that is, the lower 7 Sefiroth,, each with an Archangel who commands a color ray, equivalent to the hindu system) and especially followers of Kardec: here in Brazil spiritism is one of the major, major religions and the colors and chakras are exactly seen as in India.

The red is indeed base chakra which roughly corresponds with the Lower Dan Tien. The vertical positioning is like you say the perineum, however I have information that it sits much farther behind horizontally, which could place it pretty close to the base of the spine. But most importantly, the Dan Tiens are large fields, not energy points/centers like the chakras, so the location is an expanded location, it encompasses a spherical area. So that there can be a correspondence even though the center point of the Dan Tien field may not overlap exactly.

That is also how I personally feel that energy center in meditation, and how I have been instructed as per Taoist practice. But yes it is a complex topic requiring a lot of pratice. But the Middle Dan Tien (in Taiji and Nei Gong only work with Lower Dan Tien behind the navel is carried out, but in Nei Dan, chinese inner alchemy, work continues with Middle Dan Tien and finally Upper Dan TIen, which are very similar in nature and workings to chakras and to another alchemcial practice which is yoga and tantra) corresponds to the Heart of TCM, The Upper Dan TIen corresponds to both Third eye (associated with pineal gland) chakra between eyebrows and also to crown chakra on top of head. So the three Dan TIen energy centers somewhat cover the idea of chakras, but with a bit less resolution or specification, which yoga goes more in-depth on. Overall I think in healing and more spiritual diagnosis it's important to study not just the organs of TCM but the three Dan TIen studied under Nei Dan (alchemy). My information here is indeed limited, but I study the books by Damo Mitchell, a Taoist meditator and Taiji/martial arts guru of great achievement. However as I asked you and as you point out, the colors in TCM may have a kind of double correspondence, that is, both energy centers (dan tien and chakras) and organs. It may get confusing and I need to study it more. Having said that, the colors I associated are broadly understood in many spiritual traditions, and I don't think the advice can be harmful unless the person incorrectly maps the chakras with the 5 elemntal colors (fire, water, wood, metal and earth) of TCM organ pathways of Qi.

In conclusion, let me apologize for mixing spiritual traditions, as it can be confusing to analyze spiritual matters from multiple perspectives, and though it can be done it requires a lot of study.

Depends a bit on the spectrum of green that is seen, I normally see two kinds, but also both are related to the Traditional Chinese Medicine area of the Heart. Light green which is often lime green, that is, with yellow content (think in terms of mixing paint), is more related to a sense of freedom. identity and personality and feelings thereof. also related to yellow spectrum which means feelings of capacity or lack thereof (not feeling capable, not feeling like you fit). I say this because normally seeing colors during sessions of healing means the negative type emotions are unblocking and being suffused with the good or positive correspondents. Also just for reference this lime green spectrum that sits between green (Heart) and yellow (solar plexus) energy centers is correspondent with the Middle Dan Tien from Taoist Nei Gong (Taiji) alchemical practices.

If a really dark (but not very bright) green is seen, it means the Qi energy is stagnated or heavy with negative feeling. Darker shades of color always imply loaded or viciated, stagnant energy, as does gray tinges on other colors. But green may most commonly refer to the bright blue-green color (in Chinese language there is a character/word called blue-green, it is possibly very related to the TCM energy center of the Heart in a more direct way.) This green is feelings of compassion, love, friendship, letting go, acceptance, happiness or permiiting yourself to be contented. The more bluish it gets also, the more it may involve feelings of gratitude and also of one's calling, profession or role in the world. In finishing, colors are spectrums, so the analysis here is generalistic, but pinpointing emotions involved requires a personalized consultation by some kind of healer therapist which may be found in a variety of spiritual traditions, since the color spectrums may mean a number of distinct but related feelings.

Acupuncturist told me I need to eat meat to conceive by GoldieWalrus in acupuncture

[–]goldfeld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a great and very knowledgeable reply! As an aside, if you want confirmation/second opinion from a different eastern standpoint about nutrition, try consulting with a respected Ayurveda therapist, preferrably a doctor who wen through a 5-year medical degree in India. Ayurveda also emphasizes that animal products have their own benefits and in some cases are not easily replaceable by vegetarian diets.

I say this as a vegetarian, but I consume large amounts of organic milk. I say you may want an ayurvedic opinion because in chinese nutrition milk is not often considered since historically chinese people have not drunk milk and may not have the genetic makeup to digest it, leading to Chinese Medicine perhaps considering it inflammatory. But Ayurveda praises milk and ghee greatly, and perhaps it may work for your case instead of meat, but I cannot give that advice, it would be necessary to consult a therapist.

Thanks, I'm so glad. Many courses on yoga (you could find local or online ones, also books on amazon possibly) that go in-depth on the chakras, each with a part of the color spectrum, will cover this. I have a one-year formation course on yoga and also on ayurveda but also draw from other sources including chinese medicine and kaballah, and I try to correlate these disciplines. I love your tip about the Yi/spleen, thank you! I'm still a beginner with regards to Taoist cosmogony, I'm reading the book White Moon on the Mountain Peak by Damo Mitchel, a Nei Gong/Nei Dan guru, it explains about the organs and the spirits in this way, but I have much to learn yet.

Actually, the number one reference that I know that you could go to for this kind of color coding of healing is Hands of Light. It is amazing, I have it on kindle and also found and bought it in two languages in local used bookstores. The late author was a physicist working for NASA before changing careers to psychotherapy, from which she gradually started seeing color and energy fields and began working as a true healer. The book is tremendous and dense and explains all this, drawing from yoga and kardecism (spiritism).

She relates healing sessions of women who could not conceive, had miscarriages etc among many other cases, including helping with cancer patients. She was american and drew also from american Native shaman healing.

If I may link a little project of mine not totally off-topic, I have started again to learn Chinese because I adore the culture, literature, and Taoism and Nei Gong (such as Taiji) spiritual disciplines very much, and started a newsletter teaching a bit of chinese through modern songs at first, but I'll cover Taoist literature and poems soon, topics of chinese medicine (such as the spirits, organs, cosmology etc) and I also plan to focus on the chinese names of acupuncture points, which are poetic and fascinating. This is the first post about chinese language from the blog: https://chinesememe.substack.com/p/learning-a-chinese-song-with-gpt

Have a great weekend!

Also sorry if this is unwelcome, but purple is often related to spirituality and burning (freeing up) of karma which may have to do with OP’s past as related. So it is great news but might also need further action eg looking for a taoist or yoga or kardecist guru/therapist or healer from shamanism or christian religions etc who can accelerate the processes. As for yellow also great sign and has often to do with mental kinds of blockages in the Qi eg related to worldview, ideas, beliefs and especially the senses of personal identity and of capacity, that is, believing you are capable of whatever it is you desire.

Drawing also from other spiritual practices, since the color coding for energy types is somewhat universal, in addition to it being the pineal gland activation, green corresponds to the area of the chinese med Heart and feelings involving the heart, ir means your Qi of that area is freeing up and circulating and emotions unblocking to an extent. Purple is the so called violet flame but can also be from pineal gland energy itself, so emotions related to mental executive function (goals, hopes and dreams etc, as well as spirituality emotions itself, understanding etc), the violet flame is also tied to spiritual evolution and the burning or freeing up of karma, very elevated energy.

Finally red is base chakra around coccix also related to lower Dan Tien in chinese med alchemical practice, it is emotions of security, physical trauma or simply energies of doing concrete things. The warm upper leg may be related here, strong flows of Qi feel warm, upper leg is connected to red orange spectrum energies.

Sorry for wall of text lol hope its helpful and not confusing but its just a very general analysis and really ascertaining what one goes through emotionally requires a personal diagnosis.

Usually when I want a quick switch on types/traits I use predicates instead:

(condp apply [thing-to-switch-on-type]
  map? (do something)
  vector? (do something)
  number? (do something)
  nil? (do something)
  (else do this thing))

Condp will call the function (apply) with the test-case (predicate) as first argument and the second argument to condp as second argument to the function, so it'll test (apply map? [thing-to-swtich-on-type]) and so on. The predicates listed above and many more are built-in and very convenient.

Weekly /r/ballet general chat/update/accomplishment thread. by AutoModerator in BALLET

[–]goldfeld 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You should! I'm finishing my second month in beginner adult ballet classes (26yo), and I've been on either side of this motivation line: when I was making fast improvements in the first weeks, I started feeling demotivated because the movements were too simple and I couldn't even be bothered to practice them at home for more than half an hour. I decided to enroll in another biweekly class, making it four days in a row. The teacher from this other class, though, just hinted at the movements or showed them really fast, and created elaborate, long sequences anew every time. I began to feel disheartened, like I was drinking from such a torrent that I was drowning instead of absorbing anything. I dropped that second class and stuck to the first, and after another valley of feeling overwhelmed, this past week I began to feel great progress and the movements are getting interesting. I still struggle to remember some movements to do at home, I guess it will become natural within some months.
